Official abstract text for this publication.
Technologies are disclosed herein for selecting one or more content instances of a plurality of content instances for display on a head unit of a vehicle. The content instances correspond to a location of a vehicle and are received by the head unit. The head unit obtains vehicle specific information from memory of the head unit. Based on the vehicle specific information, the head unit selects the one or more content instances using a set of criteria for determining which, if any, content instances to display. Selection of the one or more content instances using the set of criteria may involve consideration of information associated with individual instances of the plurality of content instances. The selected one or more content instances are displayed on a display of the head unit.

The invention claimed is: 1. A head unit of a vehicle, comprising: a display device that is configured to display content; a memory that is configured to store computer instructions; and one or more processors that are configured to execute the computer instructions to: receive, when the vehicle is in a first geographic area, a first plurality of content corresponding to the first geographic area; determine a destination associated with the vehicle; select first content from the first plurality of content based on the determined destination; display the first content on the display device; determine that the vehicle has left the first geographic area and entered a second geographic area; and when the vehicle is in the second geographic area: discontinue display of the first content on the display device; receive a second plurality of content corresponding to the second geographic area; select second content from the second plurality of content based on the determined destination; and display the second content on the display device. 2. The head unit of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further computer instructions to: determine the destination associated with the vehicle by determining an interest of a user of the vehicle; and select the first content from the first plurality of content by selecting the first content from the first plurality of content in response to the first content including an interest characteristic that corresponds to the determined interest. 3. The head unit of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further computer instructions to: determine the destination associated with the vehicle by determining a category of the destination; and select the first content from the first plurality of content by selecting the first content from the first plurality of content in response to the first content being associated with the determined category. 4. The head unit of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further computer instructions to: determine the destination associated with the vehicle by obtaining a history of previous destinations of a user of the vehicle; and select the first content from the first plurality of content by selecting the first content from the first plurality of content based on the history of previous destinations. 5. The head unit of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute further computer instructions to: determine the destination associated with the vehicle by identifying at least one vehicle operation event; and select the first content from the first plurality of content by selecting the first content from the first plurality of content in response to an occurrence of the at least one vehicle operation event and the first content being associated with the at least one vehicle operation event. 6. The head unit of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors determine the destination associated with the vehicle by being configured to execute further computer instructions to: receive a target destination of the vehicle from a mobile device that is separate and distinct from the head unit. 7. The head unit of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors determine the destination associated with the vehicle by being configured to execute further computer instructions to: receive a user request to navigate to a particular location. 8. A method, comprising: determining, by a computer device, a destination associated with the vehicle; when the vehicle is in a first geographic region: receiving, by the computer device, a first plurality of content corresponding to the first geographic region; selecting, by the computer device, first content from the first plurality of content based on the determined destination; and displaying, by the computer device, the first content on the display device; determining, by the computer device, that the vehicle has left the first geographic region and entered a second geographic region; and when the vehicle is in the second geographic region: discontinuing, by the computer device, display of the first content on the display device; receiving, by the computer device, a second plurality of content corresponding to the second geographic region; selecting, by the computer device, second content from the second plurality of content based on the determined destination; and displaying, by the computer device, the second content on the display device. 9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising: wherein determining the destination associated with the vehicle includes determining, by the computer device, an interest of a user of the vehicle; and wherein selecting the second content from the second plurality of content includes selecting, by the computer device, the second content from the second plurality of content in response to the second content including an interest characteristic that corresponds to the determined interest. 10. The method of claim 8 , further comprising: wherein determining the destination associated with the vehicle includes determining, by the computer device, a category of the destination; wherein selecting the second content from the second plurality of content includes selecting, by the computer device, the second content from the second plurality of content in response to the second content being associated with the determined category. 11. The method of claim 8 , further comprising: wherein determining the destination associated with the vehicle includes obtaining, by the computer device, a history of previous destinations of a user of the vehicle; wherein selecting the second content from the second plurality of content includes selecting, by the computer device, the second content from the second plurality of content based on the history of previous destinations. 12. The method of claim 8 , further comprising: wherein determining the destination associated with the vehicle includes identifying, by the computer device, at least one vehicle operation event; and wherein selecting the second content from the second plurality of content includes selecting, by the computer device, the second content from the second plurality of content in response to an occurrence of the at least one vehicle operation event and the second content being associated with the at least one vehicle operation event. 13. The method of claim 8 , wherein determining the destination associated with the vehicle further comprises: receiving, by the computer device, a target destination of the vehicle from a mobile device that is separate and distinct from the head unit. 14. The method of claim 8 , wherein determining the destination associated with the vehicle further comprises: receiving, by the computer device, a user request to navigate to a particular location. 15. A system associated with a vehicle, comprising: a output interface that is configured to output content; a memory that is configured to store computer instructions; and one or more processors that are configured to execute the computer instructions to: determine a destination associated with the vehicle; receive a plurality of content corresponding to a current geographic area in which the vehicle is operating; select content from the plurality of content based on the determined destination; output the selected content via the output interface; receive a new plurality of content in response to the vehicle changing geographic areas; select new content from the new plurality of
