Abstract

The disclosure provides for an oral composition, the oral composition including at least one active agent, at least one filler component, and water in an amount sufficient such that the oral composition has a total moisture content of about 15% to about 30% by weight or greater based on the total weight of the oral composition.

First claim

The invention claimed is:

1. An oral composition comprising:
at least one active agent;
at least one filler component; and
water in an amount sufficient such that the oral composition has a total moisture content of about 15% to about 30% by weight or greater based on the total weight of the oral composition,
wherein the oral composition is substantially or completely free of tobacco.

2. The oral composition of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the at least one active agent is bound to at least a portion of the at least one filler component.

3. The oral composition of claim 1 , wherein the oral composition further comprises a binding agent.

4. The oral composition of claim 3 , wherein the binding agent is selected from the group consisting of povidone, sodium alginate, starch-based binders, pectin, carrageenan, pullulan, zein, gum, and combinations thereof.

5. The oral composition of claim 1 , wherein the at least one active agent is selected from the group consisting of botanicals, stimulants, amino acids, vitamins, cannabinoids, nutraceuticals, and combinations thereof.

6. The oral composition of claim 1 , wherein the at least one active agent is a nicotine component.

7. The oral composition of claim 6 , wherein the nicotine component is one or both of nicotine free base and a nicotine salt.

8. The oral composition of claim 6 , wherein the nicotine component is present in an amount of greater than 2% by weight based on the total weight of the oral composition.

9. The oral composition of claim 8 , wherein the nicotine component is present in an amount of about 3% to about 10% by weight based on the total weight of the oral composition.

10. The oral composition of claim 8 , wherein the water is present in an amount such that oral composition has a total moisture content of greater than 20% by weight based on the total weight of the oral composition.

11. The oral composition of claim 10 , wherein the water is present in an amount such that oral composition has a total moisture content of about 20% to about 45% by weight based on the total weight of the oral composition.

12. The oral composition of claim 8 , wherein the oral composition has a pH that is greater than 7.

13. The oral composition of claim 6 , wherein the nicotine component is present in an amount of less than 1% by weight based on the total weight of the oral composition.

14. The oral composition of claim 13 , wherein the nicotine component is present in an amount of about 0.01% to about 0.9% by weight based on the total weight of the oral composition.

15. The oral composition of claim 13 , wherein the water is present in an amount such that oral composition has a total moisture content of about 15% to about 30% by weight based on the total weight of the oral composition.

16. The oral composition of claim 1 , wherein the oral composition further comprises a cyclodextrin.

17. The oral composition of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the at least one active agent is bound to the cyclodextrin.

18. The oral composition of claim 17 , wherein the water is present in an amount such that oral composition has a total moisture content of about 15% to about 30% by weight based on the total weight of the oral composition.

19. The oral composition of claim 1 , wherein the oral composition is positioned within a pouch.

20. The oral composition of claim 1 , wherein the oral composition comprises a white tobacco material in at least a trace amount but in an amount less than 10% by weight, excluding any nicotine component present in the oral composition, based on the total weight of the oral composition.
