Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A walking training system and an operation method capable of performing training effectively are provided. A walking training system according to an embodiment includes a harness attached to a trainee's trunk, a first pulling unit configured to apply a pulling force to the harness from a first direction along a horizontal direction, a second pulling unit configured to apply a pulling force to the harness from a second direction along the horizontal direction, and a control unit configured to control the first and second pulling units.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. A walking training system comprising: a harness configured to be attached to a trainee's trunk; a treadmill configured for the trainee to walk on, handrails disposed on right and left sides of the treadmill and including a mechanism for changing the height of the handrails, a first pulling unit configured to apply a pulling force to the harness from a first direction along a horizontal direction; a second pulling unit configured to apply a pulling force to the harness from a second direction along the horizontal direction; a third pulling unit configured to apply a pulling force to the harness from a third direction along the horizontal direction; and a control unit configured to control the first, the second and the third pulling units so that the harness follows a target position, and the target position is able to be dynamically changed in a right/left direction and a front/rear direction, wherein each of the first, the second and the third pulling unit includes: a wire connected to the harness, a winding mechanism configured to wind the wire to apply the pulling force to the harness, and a converter attached to one of the handrails and configured to convert an orientation of the pulling force, and wherein the harness includes: a frame configured to be attached to the trainee's trunk; an attaching member to which the wire is attached; and a guide mechanism that holds the attaching member so as to guide up/down movement between the attaching member and the frame. 2. The walking training system according to claim 1 , wherein the first, the second and the third pulling units are configured to always apply the pulling forces when the trainee is walking. 3. The walking training system according to claim 1 , wherein the first, the second and the third pulling units configured to apply the pulling forces from a position lower than a height of the trainee when the trainee is on the treadmill. 4. The walking training system according to claim 1 , wherein an attaching position where the first pulling unit, the second pulling unit or the third pulling unit is attached to the harness is configured to be adjustable in a circumferential direction of the trainee's trunk when the trainee is on the treadmill. 5. The walking training system according to claim 1 , further comprising a fourth pulling unit configured to apply a pulling force to the harness from a fourth direction along the horizontal direction; wherein the control unit controls the first to fourth pulling units so that the position of the harness follows to the target position in a yaw direction. 6. The walking training system according to claim 5 , wherein elevation angles of the first to fourth directions are within a range of ±15 degrees. 7. The walking training system according to claim 1 , wherein a walking surface of the treadmill is parallel to a horizontal plane. 8. The walking training system according to claim 7 , wherein the attaching member and the converter are disposed at a position lower than a height of the trainee when the trainee is on the treadmill. 9. The walking training system according to claim 1 , wherein a walking surface of the treadmill is inclined from a horizontal plane. 10. The walking training system according to claim 1 , wherein the winding mechanism is disposed at a position higher than a height of the trainee when the trainee is on the treadmill. 11. A method of operating a walking training system, the walking training system comprising: a harness configured to be attached to a trainee's trunk; a treadmill configured for the trainee to walk on, handrails disposed on right and left sides of the treadmill and including a mechanism for changing the height of the handrails, a first pulling unit configured to apply a pulling force to the harness from a first direction along a horizontal direction; a second pulling unit configured to apply a pulling force to the harness from a second direction along the horizontal direction; and a third pulling unit configured to apply a pulling force to the harness from a third direction along the horizontal direction; the method comprising: applying a first pulling force exerted by the first pulling unit; applying a second pulling force exerted by the second pulling unit together with the first pulling force; and applying a third pulling force exerted by the third pulling unit together with the first and second pulling forces, wherein the first, the second and the third pulling units are controlled so that the harness follows a target position, wherein the target position is dynamically changed in a right/left direction and a front/rear direction, wherein each of the first, the second and the third pulling unit includes: a wire connected to the harness, a winding mechanism configured to wind the wire to apply the pulling force to the harness, and a converter attached to one of the handrails and configured to convert an orientation of the pulling force, and wherein the harness includes: a frame configured to be fixed to the trainee's trunk; an attaching member to which the wire is attached; and a guide mechanism that holds the attaching member so as to guide up/down movement between the attaching member and the frame.
