We claim: 1. An article of footwear comprising: a component forming at least a portion of the article of footwear, wherein the component is an upper for the article of footwear, the component having a first surface defined by a thermoplastic material, wherein the thermoplastic material has a transmittance of 40 percent or less; and an optical element having a first side and a second side opposing the first side, wherein the first side or the second side of the optical element is disposed on the thermoplastic material of the first surface of the component and imparts a structural color to the article of footwear, wherein the first surface of the component is a first textured surface, and the first textured surface includes a plurality of profile features and flat planar areas, wherein the structural color is a limited iridescent multi-hue structural color, wherein the limited iridescent multi-hue structural color structural color abruptly shifts between 2 hues or among 3 hues when viewed from 2 or more different viewing angles that are at least 15 degrees apart, wherein the optical element has at least two layers, wherein each layer has a thickness of about 10 to 500 nanometers, wherein at least two adjacent layers have different thicknesses, and wherein the optical element alone imparts the structural color, wherein the limited iridescent multi-hue structural color is visible to a viewer having 20/20 visual acuity and normal color vision from a distance of about 1 meter from the component. 2. The article of footwear of claim 1 , wherein the article is an article of footwear, and the component is a sole for the article of footwear. 3. The article of footwear of claim 1 , wherein the thermoplastic material is a foamed thermoplastic material. 4. The article of footwear of claim 1 , wherein the first surface of the component includes a bladder. 5. The article of footwear of claim 1 , wherein the optical element includes is a multilayer reflector or a multilayer filter. 6. The article of footwear of claim 5 , wherein the multilayer reflector has at least two layers, including at least two adjacent layers having different refractive indices. 7. The article of footwear of claim 6 , wherein at least one of the layers of the multilayer reflector has a thickness that is about one-fourth of the wavelength of visible light to be reflected by the optical element to produce the structural color. 8. The article of footwear of claim 6 , wherein the at least one of the layers of the multilayer reflector comprises a material selected from the group consisting of: silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide, zinc sulfide, magnesium fluoride, tantalum pentoxide, and a combination thereof. 9. The article of footwear of claim 1 , wherein the limited iridescent multi-hue structural color is selected from the group consisting of the primary, secondary and tertiary colors on the red yellow blue (RYB) color wheel, all of the assigned hues fall into a single hue group, wherein the single hue group is one of a) green-yellow, yellow, and yellow-orange; b) yellow, yellow-orange and orange; c) yellow-orange, orange, and orange-red; d) orange-red, and red-purple; e) red, red-purple, and purple; f) red-purple, purple, and purple-blue; g) purple, purple-blue, and blue; h) purple-blue, blue, and blue-green; i) blue, blue-green and green; and j) blue-green, green, and green-yellow. 10. The article of footwear of claim 1 , wherein the limited iridescent multi-hue structural color has at least one hue selected from cyan, indigo, violet, blue, blue-green, and purple green. 11. The article of footwear of claim 1 , wherein the limited iridescent multi-hue structural color is limited to two or three hues selected from a hue group, wherein the hue group is selected from the group consisting of cyan, indigo, violet, blue, blue-green, or purple green. 12. An article of footwear comprising: a component forming at least a portion of the article of footwear, the component having a first surface defined by a thermoplastic material, wherein the thermoplastic material has a transmittance of 40 percent or less; and an optical element having a first side and a second side opposing the first side, wherein the first side or the second side of the optical element is disposed on the thermoplastic material of the first surface of the component and imparts a structural color to the article of footwear, wherein the structural color is a limited iridescent multi-hue structural color, wherein the limited iridescent multi-hue structural color structural color abruptly shifts between 2 hues or among 3 hues when viewed from 2 or more different viewing angles that are at least 15 degrees apart, wherein the first surface of the component includes a woven, braided, knit or nonwoven textile, wherein the optical element has at least two layers, wherein each layer has a thickness of about 10 to 500 nanometers, wherein at least two adjacent layers have different thicknesses, and wherein the optical element alone imparts the structural color. 13. The article of footwear claim 12 , wherein the component includes a first textured surface, and the first textured surface includes a plurality of profile features and flat planar areas.
