The present disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for providing a camera service by an electronic device. The electronic device may include a camera, a memory, and at least one processor, the processor configured to control the electronic device to: receive a camera shooting request; display a preview image of an external object obtained through the camera using first area information based on a first shooting mode in response to the shooting request; receive an input corresponding to a second shooting mode in the first shooting mode; and display the preview using second area information corresponding to the second shooting mode in response to the input.

What is claimed is: 1. A portable communication device comprising: a camera; a touchscreen display; and a processor operatively connected with the camera and the touchscreen display, the processor configured to: display, via the touchscreen display, a first live preview image corresponding to a first shooting mode in a first size; while the first live preview image is displayed in the first size, receive, via the touchscreen display, a user input corresponding to a second shooting mode different from the first shooting mode; in response to the user input, capture at least one still image corresponding to the first live preview image via the camera; display, via the touchscreen display, an indication image indicative of a change from the first shooting mode to the second shooting mode, the displaying of the indication image including: generating the indication image based on the at least one still image; and changing a size of the indication image from the first size to a second size; and after the indication image is displayed, display, via the touchscreen display, a second live preview image corresponding to the second shooting mode in the second size. 2. The portable communication device of claim 1 , wherein the first shooting mode is a video shooting mode and the second shooting mode is a photo shooting mode. 3. The portable communication device of claim 1 , wherein the first size corresponds to a first view angle of the first shooting mode, and the second size corresponds to a second view angle of the second shooting mode. 4. The portable communication device of claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to: perform the changing by filling a shadow in a specified area corresponding to a difference between the first size and the second size. 5. The portable communication device of claim 1 , wherein the first live preview image is obtained from the camera in the first shooting mode in real time, and the second live preview image is obtained from the camera in the second shooting mode in real time. 6. The portable communication device of claim 1 , wherein the first shooting mode is one of a photo shooting mode or a video shooting mode, and the second shooting mode is another of the photo shooting mode or the video shooting mode. 7. The portable communication device of claim 1 , wherein the second size is smaller than the first size. 8. The portable communication device of claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to change the size of the indication image from the first size with a first ratio to a second size with a second ratio. 9. The portable communication device of claim 8 , wherein the first ratio is 16:9 and the second ratio is 4:3. 10. A portable communication device comprising: a camera; a touchscreen display; and a processor operatively connected with the camera and the touchscreen display, the processor configured to: display, via the touchscreen display, a first live preview image corresponding to a video shooting mode in a first size; while the first live preview image is displayed in the first size, receive, via the touchscreen display, a user input corresponding to a photo shooting mode; and change a mode of the camera from the video shooting mode to the photo shooting mode in response to the user input such that an indication image indicative of a change from the video shooting mode to the photo shooting mode is displayed via the touchscreen display in a second size smaller than the first size instead of the first live preview image, and then a second live preview image corresponding to the photo shooting mode is displayed via the display in the second size instead of the indication image. 11. The portable communication device of claim 10 , wherein the processor is configured to: generate the indication image based at least in part on at least one still image corresponding to the first live preview image that is captured in response to the user input. 12. The portable communication device of claim 11 , wherein the processor is configured to: reduce a size of the indication image into the second size before the indication image is displayed. 13. A portable communication device comprising: a camera; a touchscreen display; and a processor operatively connected with the camera and the touchscreen display, the processor configured to: display, via the touchscreen display, a first live preview image corresponding to a video shooting mode in a first size; while the first live preview image is displayed in the first size, receive, via the touchscreen display, a user input corresponding to a photo shooting mode; in response to the user input: capture a still image corresponding to the first live preview image via the camera, change a size of the still image from the first size to a second size smaller than the first size, and display, via the touchscreen display, the changed still image in the second size; and after the photo shooting mode is activated by the user input, display, via the touchscreen display, a second live preview image corresponding to the photo shooting mode in the second size. 14. The portable communication device of claim 13 , wherein the first size corresponds to a first view angle of the video shooting mode, and the second size corresponds to a second view angle of the photo shooting mode. 15. The portable communication device of claim 13 , wherein the processor is configured to: change the size of the still image by filling a shadow in a specified area corresponding to a difference between the first size and the second size. 16. The portable communication device of claim 13 , wherein the first live preview image is obtained from the camera in the video shooting mode in real time, and the second live preview image is obtained from the camera in the photo shooting mode in real time. 17. The portable communication device of claim 13 , wherein the processor is configured to: generate an indication image based at least in part on at least one still image corresponding to the first live preview image that is captured in response to the user input. 18. The portable communication device of claim 17 , wherein the indication image is indicative of a change from the video shooting mode to the photo shooting mode. 19. The portable communication device of claim 17 , wherein the processor is configured to change the size of the indication image from the first size with a first ratio to a second size with a second ratio. 20. The portable communication device of claim 19 , wherein the first ratio is 16:9 and the second ratio is 4:3.
