The present disclosure provides azeotrope or azeotrope-like compositions including trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I) and trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl), and a method of forming an azeotrope or azeotrope-like composition comprising the step of combining trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl) and trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I) to form an azeotrope or azeotrope-like composition.

What is claimed is: 1. A method of forming an azeotrope or azeotrope-like composition comprising the step of combining trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl) and trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I) to form an azeotrope or azeotrope-like composition consisting essentially of trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl) and trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I) having a boiling point between about −46.0° C. and about 90.0° C. at a pressure of between about 4.9 psia and about 348 psia. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the combining step comprises combining from about 0.5 wt. % to about 99.0 wt. % trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl) and from about 1.0 wt. % to about 99.5 wt. % trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I). 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the azeotrope or azeotrope-like composition consisting essentially of trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl) and trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I) has a boiling point of about −22.50° C.±0.30° C. at a pressure of about 14.41 psia±0.30 psia. 4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the combining step comprises combining from about 0.5 wt. % to about 25 wt. % trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl) and from about 75 wt. % to about 99.5 wt. % trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I). 5. The method of claim 3 , wherein the combining step comprises combining from about 2 wt. % to about 21 wt. % trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl) and from about 79 wt. % to about 98 wt. % trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I). 6. A method of forming an azeotrope or azeotrope-like composition comprising the step of combining trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl) and trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I) to form the azeotrope or azeotrope-like composition comprising effective amounts of trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl) and trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I). 7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the azeotrope or azeotrope-like composition has a boiling point of about −22.50° C.±0.30° C. at a pressure of about 14.41 psia±0.30 psia. 8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the combining step comprises combining from about 0.5 wt. % to about 25 wt. % trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl) and from about 75 wt. % to about 99.5 wt. % trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I). 9. The method of claim 7 , wherein the combining step comprises combining from about 2 wt. % to about 21 wt. % trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl) and from about 79 wt. % to about 98 wt. % trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I). 10. The method of claim 6 , wherein the azeotrope or azeotrope-like composition consists essentially of effective amounts of trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl) and trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I). 11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the azeotrope or azeotrope-like composition has a boiling point of about −22.50° C.±0.30° C. at a pressure of about 14.41 psia±0.30 psia. 12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the combining step comprises combining from about 0.5 wt. % to about 25 wt. % trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl) and from about 75 wt. % to about 99.5 wt. % trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I). 13. The method of claim 11 , wherein the combining step comprises combining from about 2 wt. % to about 21 wt. % trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl) and from about 79 wt. % to about 98 wt. % trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I). 14. The method of claim 6 , wherein the azeotrope or azeotrope-like composition consists of trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl) and trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I). 15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the azeotrope or azeotrope-like composition has a boiling point of about −22.50° C.±0.30° C. at a pressure of about 14.41 psia±0.30 psia. 16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the combining step comprises combining from about 0.5 wt. % to about 25 wt. % trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl) and from about 75 wt. % to about 99.5 wt. % trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I). 17. The method of claim 1 , further comprising the additional steps of: separating the trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I) from the trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl); and collecting a product comprising trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I). 18. The method of claim 1 , wherein the product consists essentially of trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I). 19. The method of claim 6 , further comprising the additional steps of: separating the trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I) from the trifluoroacetyl chloride (CF 3 COCl); and collecting a product comprising trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I). 20. The method of claim 6 , wherein the product consists essentially of trifluoroiodomethane (CF 3 I).
