Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A system which in some embodiments comprises a wireless smart device assembly that includes a smart device, wherein the smart device assembly is attachable or mountable against an unopened surface of a wall or other structure. In some embodiments, a system comprises a smart device assembly that includes a smart device; and a fastener that includes adhesive and is coupled to the smart device assembly and releasably attachable to a wall or other structure. Some embodiments include a level indicator configured to indicate the angular position or orientation of one or more other portion of the smart device assembly relative to parallel and/or plumb to the force of gravity. In some embodiments, a mount and/or a cover define a catch to releasably attach the cover to the mount.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. A system comprising: a first smart device assembly including a mount configured to be removably coupled to a surface of a wall or other structure without penetrating the surface, a first smart device releasably retained on the mount, and a cover releasably attachable to the mount and having an opening through which the first smart device is visible; a second smart device in communication with the first smart device, the second smart device including a switch and a manually engageable actuator in communication with the switch; and a device in communication with the second smart device via the switch, wherein the first smart device and the manually engageable actuator are operable to control the switch of the second smart device. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first smart device is removably coupled to the surface of the wall or other structure by a fastener including a pressure sensitive adhesive. 3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first smart device is removably coupled to the surface of the wall or other structure by a fastener including, a substrate having a first surface and a second surface, the first surface coupled to the first smart device, the second surface facing away from the smart device assembly; and pressure sensitive adhesive disposed on at least a portion of the second surface. 4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first smart device communicates with the second smart device via a direct wireless communication path. 5. The system of claim 4 , wherein the direct wireless communication path is Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy. 6. The system of claim 4 , wherein the first smart device and the second smart device communicate with and receive information from a WiFi network, a server, a cloud or the Internet. 7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the first smart device includes firmware or software that is updated by the information from a WiFi network, the server, the cloud, or the Internet. 8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first smart device communicates with the second smart device via an indirect wireless communication path. 9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the indirect wireless communication path is a WiFi network. 10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first smart device is powered by a battery. 11. A system comprising: a first smart device assembly including a mount that is removably coupled to an unopened surface of a wall or other structure without penetrating the surface, a first smart device releasably retained on the mount, and a cover releasably attachable to the mount and having an opening through which the first smart device is visible, the first smart device including a first manually engageable actuator, a first processor, and a first wireless interface, a second smart device that is in communication with the first smart device, the second device including a switch and a second manually engageable actuator in communication with the switch, the switch having a second processor and a second wireless interface; and a device that is in communication with the second smart device via the switch, wherein the first manually engageable actuator and the second manually engageable actuator are operable to control the switch of the second smart device. 12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the first smart device is removably coupled to the unopened surface of the wall or other structure by a fastener including a pressure sensitive adhesive. 13. The system of claim 11 , wherein the first smart device is removably coupled to the unopened surface of the wall or other structure by a fastener including a substrate having a first surface and a second surface, the first surface coupled to the first smart device, the second surface facing away from the smart device assembly; and pressure sensitive adhesive disposed on at least a portion of the second surface. 14. The system of claim 11 , wherein the first wireless interface communicates with the second wireless interface via a direct wireless communication path or an indirect wireless communication path. 15. The system of claim 14 , wherein the direct wireless communication path is Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy, or a WiFi network. 16. The system of claim 11 , wherein when a user actuates the first manually engageable actuator, the first processor receives a first corresponding signal and sends the first corresponding signal to the first wireless interface for transmission to the second wireless interface, the second processor controls the switch based on the first corresponding signal received by the second wireless interface. 17. The system of claim 16 , wherein when a user actuates the second manually engageable actuator, the second processor receives a second corresponding signal and the second processor controls the switch based on the second corresponding signal. 18. The system of claim 11 , wherein the first smart device is powered by a battery.
