Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A respiratory therapy device, which may include a flow generator, is provided. The RPT device includes a touch screen display that displays user interface screens to a user and accepts input from users to control parameters and functionality of the RPT device (e.g., a flow generator).

First claim

The invention claimed is: 1. A positive airway pressure (PAP) system comprising: a flow generator configured to generate a supply of air at a positive pressure relative to ambient pressure; a touch screen display configured to accept touch input provided by a user to control a pressure level of the positive pressure that is generated by the controllable motor-blower; at least one hardware processor configured to: output a first pressure control user interface display screen to the touch screen display for display thereon, the first pressure control user interface display screen including a plurality of numbers that indicate pressure values; while the first pressure control user interface display screen is displayed, accept a first touch input to select a first number out of the plurality of numbers; while the first pressure control user interface display screen is displayed and after acceptance of the first touch input, accept a second touch input to select a second number out of the plurality of numbers; change how the first and second numbers are displayed within the first pressure control user interface display screen based on selection thereof; cause, based on the first and second numbers, the pressure level of the positive air pressure to be controlled; and based on a selection of a decimal button on the first pressure control user interface display screen, output a second pressure user interface display screen to the touch screen display for display thereon; wherein the second pressure control user interface display screen include a plurality of decimal values for selection. 2. The PAP system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one hardware processor is further configured to: in response to selection of the second number, change how at least one number of the plurality of numbers is displayed within the first pressure control user interface display screen, wherein the at least one number of the plurality of numbers is different from the first and second numbers. 3. The PAP system of claim 2 , wherein how the at least one number of the plurality of numbers is changed is different from how the first and second numbers are changed. 4. The PAP system of claim 1 , further comprising a housing that includes the flow generator, the touch screen display, and the at least one hardware processor. 5. The PAP system of claim 1 , further comprising: a mobile computing device that includes the touch screen display, the at least one hardware processor, and a first transceiver; and a housing that includes the flow generator and a second transceiver, wherein the first transceiver communicates at least one command based on selection of the first and second numbers that causes the flow generator to operate based on the first and second numbers. 6. The PAP system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one hardware processor is further configured to: require that the second number is greater than the first number that is selected. 7. The PAP system of claim 1 , wherein the first pressure control user interface display screen further includes an accept button that changes in display state based on successful validation of a range specified by the first and second numbers that have been selected. 8. The PAP system of claim 1 , wherein the accept button is inactive when a valid range has not been specified for the first pressure control user interface display screen. 9. The PAP system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one hardware processor is further configured to: based on selection of the first number, adjust how those numbers that are numerically below the selected first number are displayed to indicate that those numbers are not selectable. 10. The PAP system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one hardware processor is further configured to: upon selection of the second number, which is valid, automatically set a range to be used for ramping of the flow generator and close the first pressure control user interface display screen. 11. The PAP system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one hardware processor is further configured to: based on selection of a decimal value from the plurality of decimal values, show the first pressure control user interface display screen with at least one of the numerical values changed based on which decimal value was selected from the plurality of decimal values. 12. The PAP system of claim 1 , wherein a previously selected numerical value from the first pressure control user interface display screen is displayed with the plurality of decimal values as part of the second pressure control user interface display screen. 13. The PAP system of claim 1 , wherein how display of the first and second numbers are changed includes highlighting the first and second numbers out of the plurality of numbers that are part of the first pressure control user interface display screen. 14. A positive airway pressure (PAP) system comprising: a controllable motor-blower configured to generate a supply of air at a positive pressure relative to ambient pressure; a touch screen display configured to accept touch input provided by a user to control a pressure level of the positive pressure that is generated by the controllable motor-blower; at least one hardware processor configured to: output a first pressure control user interface display screen to the touch screen display for display thereon, the first pressure control user interface display screen including a plurality of integer numbers that indicate a pressure value; while the first pressure control user interface display screen is displayed, accept a first touch input to select a first number out of the plurality of integer numbers; in response to a second touch input, output a second pressure control user interface display screen to the touch screen display that includes a plurality of non-integer numbers displayed therein; while the second pressure control user interface display screen is displayed, accept a third touch input to select a second number out of the plurality of non-integer numbers; based on confirmation of selection of the second number, show the first pressure control user interface display screen and adjust how the first number is displayed to include the second number; and control the positive pressure that is generated by the controllable motor-blower based on the first and second numbers. 15. The PAP system of claim 14 , wherein the second display screen is superimposed over the first pressure control user interface display screen. 16. The PAP system of claim 14 , wherein the second pressure control user interface display screen is generated to dynamically include the first number that is selected. 17. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium configured to store computer executable instructions for use with a processing system that includes at least one hardware processor, the stored computer executable instructions comprising instructions that cause the processing system to: output a first pressure control user interface display screen to a display device that is coupled to the processing system, the first pressure control user interface display screen including a plurality of numbers that indicate pressure values that correspond to positive pressure levels, relative to ambient pressure, that a flow generator is configured to provide as part of positive airway pressure (PAP) to a patient; while the first pressure control user interface display screen is displayed, accept a first touch input to select a first number out of the plurality of numbers that are displayed; while
