The present invention is directed to a hair care composition having an effective amount of a 2-pyridinol-N-oxide material and an effective amount of an iron chelator; wherein the combination of the iron chelator and the 2-pyridinol-N-oxide material provides high anti-fungal efficacy.

What is claimed is: 1. A shampoo composition comprising: a) from about 10% to about 20% of a detersive surfactant b) from about 0.3% to about 3% of 1-hydroxy-4-methyl-6-(2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)-2-pyridone monoethanolamine salt; c) from about 0.3% to about 6% of Diethylenetriaminepentakis (methylenephosphonic acid) wherein the combination of 1-hydroxy-4-methyl-6-(2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)-2-pyridone monoethanolamine salt and Diethylenetriaminepentakis (methylenephosphonic acid) has a modified fractional inhibitor concentration of 50 ppm d) from about 40% to about 95% of aqueous carrier. 2. The hair care composition of claim 1 wherein the 1-hydroxy-4-methyl-6-(2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)-2-pyridone monoethanolamine salt material is from about 0.5% to about 2%. 3. The hair care composition of claim 1 wherein the Diethylenetriaminepentakis (methylenephosphonic acid) is from about 0.5% to about 4%. 4. The shampoo composition of claim 1 wherein the hair composition further comprises one or more additional anti-dandruff active agents selected from the group consisting of climbazole, ketoconazole, itraconazole, econazole, elubiol and combinations thereof.
