Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A cartridge detachably mountable to a main assembly of an image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive member unit including a photosensitive drum; a sheet configured to remove a deposited matter from a surface of the drum, the sheet being in contact with the surface of the drum at an end portion of the drum with respect to a rotational axis direction of the member; and a developing unit detachably mounted to the member unit, the developing unit including a developing roller configured to supply toner to the drum, and a storage portion configured to store the deposited matter removed from the surface of the drum by the sheet.

What is claimed is: 1. A cartridge comprising: a photosensitive member unit including a photosensitive drum, the photosensitive drum being rotatable about a rotational axis thereof; a conveyance roller contacting the photosensitive drum to form a conveyance nip for conveying a recording material; a sheet in contact with a surface of the photosensitive drum at an end portion of the photosensitive drum in a direction of the rotational axis; and a developing unit detachably mounted to the photosensitive member unit, the developing unit including a developing roller contacting the photosensitive drum to form a developing contact portion where toner is supplied from the developing roller to the photosensitive drum, the developing unit including a developing frame supporting the developing roller, the frame being provided with a recessed portion that is recessed in a direction away from the photosensitive member unit when viewed in the direction of the rotational axis, wherein the sheet is in contact with the surface of the photosensitive drum at a position of the photosensitive drum that is downstream of the developing contact portion and upstream of the conveyance nip in a rotational direction of the photosensitive drum, and wherein, in a state that the cartridge is oriented such that the photosensitive drum is above the conveyance roller and such that the photosensitive drum and the developing roller align in a gravity direction, the recessed portion is below the surface of the photosensitive drum and between the conveyance nip and the developing contact portion when viewed in the direction of the rotational axis. 2. The cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the sheet is provided in the photosensitive member unit. 3. The cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the sheet is provided in the developing unit. 4. The cartridge according to claim 3 , wherein the sheet is attached to the developing frame. 5. The cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the sheet is disposed at a position overlapping a position where the developing roller is provided in the direction of the rotational axis. 6. The cartridge according to claim 1 , further comprising a sealing member filling a gap between the developing frame and an end portion of the developing roller in the direction of the rotational axis, wherein the sheet is disposed at a position overlapping a position where sealing member is provided. 7. The cartridge according to claim 1 , wherein the photosensitive member unit includes a cleaning roller contacting the surface of the photosensitive at a position thereof downstream of the conveyance nip and upstream of the developing contact portion in the rotational direction of the photosensitive drum, wherein the sheet is in contact with a region of the surface of the photosensitive drum that is opposite to a region of the surface of the photosensitive drum where the cleaning roller contacts with respect to the rotational axis when viewed in the direction of the rotational axis. 8. The cartridge according to claim 4 , wherein a part of the developing frame to which the sheet is attached is overlapped with the photosensitive drum when viewed in the gravity direction.
