Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A mounting pad system for securing equipment, such as an HVAC outdoor unit or a standby generator, is provided in the form of a lightweight fillable pad member having a plurality of receivers located on a top surface of the pad member. The receivers are associated with attachment points located on the equipment and are used to secure the equipment to the pad. The pad member contains a filling port on its top surface and is configured as a molded hollow shell containing a gelling material which, when mixed with water, provides support to reduce deflection of the pad member caused by the equipment secured to the pad, prevents damage to the pad that would otherwise be caused by the expansion of internal contents upon freezing and prevents leakage of internal contents of the fillable pad in the event of an unintended breach in the hollow shell. The pad member is provided with at least one through-hole that acts as a supporting structure.

We claim: 1. A pad securing standby generator via fasteners comprising: a top surface, a bottom surface, and a side surface attached to the top surface and the bottom surface, the side surface defining a distance between the top surface and the bottom surface; and said top surface having positioned thereon a set of receivers for receiving a plurality of inserts, wherein the set of receivers with inserts consists of three receivers with inserts disposed in a triangular pattern associated with the standby generator. 2. A pad securing a standby generator via fasteners comprising: a top surface, a bottom surface, and a side surface attached to the top surface and the bottom surface, the side surface defining a distance between the top surface and the bottom surface; and said top surface having positioned thereon a set of receivers for receiving a plurality of inserts, wherein the set of receivers with inserts consists of four receivers with inserts disposed in a trapezoid pattern associated with a distinct equipment. 3. A pad for securing an equipment via fasteners comprising: a top surface, a bottom surface, and a side surface attached to the top surface and the bottom surface, the side surface defining a distance between the top surface and the bottom surface; and said top surface having positioned thereon a set of receivers for receiving a plurality of inserts, wherein the set of receivers with inserts consists of four receivers with inserts disposed in a quadrilateral pattern associated with a distinct equipment. 4. A pad for securing an equipment via fasteners comprising: a top surface, a bottom surface, and a side surface attached to the top surface and the bottom surface, the side surface defining a distance between the top surface and the bottom surface; and said top surface having positioned thereon a set of receivers for receiving a plurality of inserts, wherein the set of receivers with inserts consists of a first four receivers with inserts disposed in a trapezoid pattern associated with a first distinct equipment and a second four receivers with inserts disposed in a quadrilateral pattern associated with a second distinct equipment. 5. A pad for securing an equipment via fasteners comprising: a top surface, a bottom surface, and a side surface attached to the top surface and the bottom surface, the side surface defining a distance between the top surface and the bottom surface; and said top surface having positioned thereon a set of receivers for receiving a plurality of inserts, wherein the set of receivers with inserts consists of a first three receivers with inserts disposed in a triangular pattern associated with a first distinct equipment, a second four receivers with inserts disposed in a trapezoid pattern associated with a second distinct equipment, and a third four receivers with inserts disposed in a quadrilateral pattern associated with a third distinct equipment. 6. The pad of claim 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , or 5 , wherein the inserts each have an inner surface to engage the fasteners to secure the equipment to the pad. 7. The pad of claim 6 , wherein the inner surface is a threaded surface. 8. The pad of claim 6 , wherein the inner surface accepts the fasteners selected from the group consisting of thread forming, self tapping, and thread-cutting fasteners. 9. The pad of claim 6 , wherein the inner surface accepts the fasteners selected from the group consisting of keys, pins, retaining rings, snap rings, and rivets. 10. A pad for securing an equipment via fasteners comprising: a top surface, a bottom surface, and a side surface attached to the top surface and the bottom surface, the side surface defining a distance between the top surface and the bottom surface; said top surface having a plurality of receivers for receiving inserts to engage the fasteners to secure the equipment to the pad, each receiver having a receiver lower surface at a depth less than the distance between the top surface and the bottom surface and each insert having an insert lower surface at a depth less than the distance between the top surface and the bottom surface, wherein the plurality of receivers and inserts consists of three receivers and inserts in a triangular pattern. 11. A pad for securing an equipment via fasteners comprising: a top surface, a bottom surface, and a side surface attached to the top surface and the bottom surface, the side surface defining a distance between the top surface and the bottom surface; said top surface having a plurality of receivers for receiving inserts to engage the fasteners to secure the equipment to the pad, each receiver having a receiver lower surface at a depth less than the distance between the top surface and the bottom surface and each insert having an insert lower surface at a depth less than the distance between the top surface and the bottom surface, wherein the plurality of receivers and inserts consists of four receivers and inserts in a trapezoid pattern. 12. A pad for securing an equipment via fasteners comprising: a top surface, a bottom surface, and a side surface attached to the top surface and the bottom surface, the side surface defining a distance between the top surface and the bottom surface; said top surface having a plurality of receivers for receiving inserts to engage the fasteners to secure the equipment to the pad, each receiver having a receiver lower surface at a depth less than the distance between the top surface and the bottom surface and each insert having an insert lower surface at a depth less than the distance between the top surface and the bottom surface, wherein the plurality of receivers and inserts consists of four receivers and inserts in a quadrilateral pattern. 13. A pad for securing an equipment via fasteners comprising: a top surface, a bottom surface, and a side surface attached to the top surface and the bottom surface, the side surface defining a distance between the top surface and the bottom surface; said top surface having a plurality of receivers for receiving inserts to engage the fasteners to secure the equipment to the pad, each receiver having a receiver lower surface at a depth less than the distance between the top surface and the bottom surface and each insert having an insert lower surface at a depth less than the distance between the top surface and the bottom surface, wherein the plurality of receivers and inserts consists of first four receivers and inserts in a trapezoid pattern and second four receivers and inserts in a quadrilateral pattern. 14.
