A syringe assembly including a syringe barrel having a first end, a second end, and a sidewall extending therebetween defining a chamber is disclosed. The syringe assembly includes a stopper disposed within the chamber of the syringe barrel and a plunger rod having an inner member engaged with the stopper and an outer member adapted for telescopic movement with respect to the inner member. The plunger rod is transitionable from a collapsed position, in which a portion of the inner member is nested within the outer member, to an extended position, in which the same portion of the inner member extends outside the outer member. The syringe assembly also includes a stop member configured for cooperation with a portion of the syringe barrel, upon relative movement of the outer member with respect to the inner member, to limit the outward travel of the plunger rod from the syringe barrel.

The invention claimed is: 1. A packaging assembly for use with a pre-filled syringe assembly, the packaging assembly comprising: a molded cover configured for placement about a portion of a syringe barrel, a plunger rod, and a tip cap, the molded cover comprising a first strip extending along the syringe barrel and a second strip extending along the syringe barrel opposing the first strip, the first and second strips defining gaps in the molded cover therebetween; and a tear tab associated with one end of the molded cover, the tear tab configured to facilitate removal of the molded cover from the syringe assembly, wherein the molded cover and the tear tab are co-formed, and wherein, the tear tab and a portion of the molded cover contact a top surface of the plunger rod. 2. The packaging assembly of claim 1 , wherein the tear tab and the molded cover are configured for placement about the syringe assembly to constrain the plunger rod from inadvertent transition to an extended position. 3. The packaging assembly of claim 1 , wherein, during removal of the molded cover from the syringe assembly, the tear tab pivots about a portion of the molded cover. 4. Packaging assembly of claim 3 , wherein the molded cover comprises an end portion disposed distal from the tear tab, and wherein, during removal of the molded cover from the syringe assembly, the tear tab pivots about the end portion. 5. The packaging assembly of 1 , wherein the molded cover and the tear tab are a unitary component made from one single piece of material. 6. A packaging assembly for use with a pre-filled syringe assembly, the packaging assembly comprising: a molded cover configured for placement about only a portion of a syringe barrel, a plunger rod, and a tip cap; and a tear tab associated with one end of the molded cover, the tear tab comprising a frangible portion configured to facilitate removal of the molded cover from the syringe assembly, wherein, the tear tab and a portion of the molded cover contact a top surface of the plunger rod, wherein the frangible portion extends between the tear tab and the molded cover and extends downward from and bisects the portion of the molded cover contacting the top surface of the plunger rod, and wherein, during removal of the molded cover from the syringe assembly, the tear tab pivots about a portion of the molded cover. 7. The packaging assembly of claim 6 , wherein the molded cover comprises an end portion disposed distal from the tear tab, and wherein, during removal of the molded cover from the syringe assembly, the tear tab pivots about the end portion. 8. A packaging assembly for use with a pre-filled syringe assembly, the packaging assembly comprising: a molded cover configured for placement about only a portion of a syringe barrel, a plunger rod, and a tip cap; and a tear tab associated with one end of the molded cover, the tear tab configured to facilitate removal of the molded cover from the syringe assembly, wherein the molded cover comprises an end portion configured to receive the tip cap therein, the end portion defining at least one slot extending along a length of the tip cap, wherein the tear tab and a portion of the molded cover contact a top surface of the plunger rod, and wherein, during removal of the molded cover from the syringe assembly, the tear tab pivots about a portion of the molded cover.
