Embodiments relate to systems, chambers, and methods for processing particles by washing, concentrating, and/or treating the particles. Some embodiments provide for the processing of cells that may be in a liquid medium (e.g., a liquid in which the cells were grown) and are processed by being washed and concentrated for later use in research or other therapies.

What is claimed is: 1. A chamber for separating particles from a liquid, the chamber comprising: an entry port for introducing a first liquid and particles into a volume of the chamber; a first exit port, located below the entry port, for removing the particles from the volume of the chamber; a second exit port, located above the first exit port, for removing liquid from the volume of the chamber; a sloped surface that directs at least a portion of the particles toward the first exit port; and a channel in fluid communication with the entry port and formed in a side wall of the chamber as a downward projecting baffle that directs a flow of the first liquid and the particles away from the entry port and the second exit port upon introducing the first liquid and the particles into the volume of the chamber through the entry port. 2. The chamber of claim 1 , wherein the entry port is located on the side wall of the chamber. 3. The chamber of claim 1 , wherein the entry port is located in a down tube positioned in the volume of the chamber. 4. The chamber of claim 1 , wherein the entry port is located adjacent a baffle that directs the flow of the first liquid and the particles to the channel. 5. The chamber of claim 1 , wherein a second liquid is introduced into the volume of the chamber through the first exit port and removed from the volume of the chamber through the second exit port. 6. The chamber of claim 5 , wherein the second liquid does not contain particles. 7. The chamber of claim 6 , wherein the second exit port is located on a top wall that further defines the volume of the chamber. 8. The chamber of claim 7 , wherein the top wall is angled toward the second exit port. 9. The chamber of claim 1 , wherein the sloped surface defines the volume as a conical volume. 10. The chamber of claim 1 , wherein the channel comprises a partial wall to direct the flow of the first liquid and the particles in a single direction within the channel. 11. The chamber of claim 1 , wherein the channel allows the flow of the first liquid and the particles in two directions within the channel. 12. The chamber of claim 1 , wherein the channel is formed in a second side wall of the chamber that is opposite the first side wall. 13. The chamber of claim 12 , wherein first side wall and the second sidewall are part of a continuous circular skirt that includes the channel. 14. The chamber of claim 1 , wherein the first exit port and the second exit port have different orientations on the chamber. 15. The chamber of claim 14 , wherein the first exit port is oriented substantially perpendicular to the second exit port. 16. The chamber of claim 15 , wherein an entry pathway of the entry port for the first liquid and the particles is parallel to a central axis of the chamber. 17. The chamber of claim 16 , wherein the entry port is located adjacent to a surface that directs the flow of the first liquid and the particles to the channel. 18. The chamber of claim 17 , wherein the surface is sloped. 19. The chamber of claim 1 , wherein the channel is enclosed on three sides and includes an opening at a fourth side that faces the sloped surface.
