A medical insertion device includes an elongated shaft extending from a proximal end to a distal end and having flexibility sufficient for insertion through a working channel of an endoscope along a tortuous path. The elongated shaft includes a coil extending from the proximal end to the distal end and having a channel extending longitudinally therethrough and a braided portion extending around a portion of the coil, the braided portion including a plurality of lines wound together such that first and second ones of the lines intersect to enclose a predetermined angle therebetween, the angle being between 25 and 55 degrees.

What is claimed is: 1. A medical device, comprising: a clip including a capsule extending from a proximal end to a distal end and at least two arms at least partially received within the capsule; a bushing having a distal end releasably coupled to a proximal end of the capsule; an elongated shaft coupled to a proximal end of the bushing, the elongated shaft including: a coil extending from a proximal end thereof to a distal end thereof coupled to a proximal end of the bushing, the coil having a channel extending longitudinally therethrough; and a braided portion extending around a portion of the coil, the braided portion including a plurality of lines wound together such that first and second ones of the lines intersect to enclose a predetermined angle therebetween when viewed from a direction orthogonal to an axis of the elongated shaft, the angle being at least 25 degrees and less than 50 degrees, wherein a diameter of filaments of the first one of the lines is different from a diameter of filaments of the second one of the lines; and a handle coupled to the clip via a control wire. 2. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein the arms are movable between an insertion configuration in which the arms are drawn proximally into the capsule drawing the arms together and a tissue-receiving configuration in which the arms are extended distally from the capsule permitting the arms to spread apart from one another. 3. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein the first one of the lines includes one of one, two, three and four filaments and the second one of the lines includes one of one, two, three and four filaments. 4. The medical device of claim 3 , wherein each of the lines contains the same number of filaments. 5. The medical device of claim 3 , wherein a diameter of filaments of the first one of the lines is the same as a diameter of filaments of the second one of the lines. 6. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein the braided portion includes eight lines wound together. 7. The medical device of claim 1 , further comprising a plastic extrusion on the braided portion locking an orientation of the braided portion relative to the coil. 8. The medical device of claim 7 , wherein the plastic extrusion extends over one of an outer surface of the braided portion and an inner surface of the braided portion adjacent the coil. 9. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein the lines are wound with a predetermined pick count. 10. The medical device of claim 9 , wherein the lines are wound in a locking braid pattern such that crossings of the lines occur at one of valleys of the coil, peaks of the coil and a combination of the valleys and peaks of the coil. 11. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein the line has one of a rectangular and circular cross-section. 12. The medical device of claim 1 , wherein the handle includes an actuator for rotating the elongated shaft, the elongated shaft transmitting the rotation along its length so that rotation of the elongated shaft rotates the clip. 13. The medical device of claim 1 , further including a core member coupled between the control wire and the arms, wherein the core member is constructed to separate when subjected to a predetermined tension force to release the clip from the control wire and the elongated shaft. 14. The medical device of claim 13 , wherein, when the core member separates, the arms are locked in a closed position. 15. A method for deploying a clipping device in a living body, comprising the steps of: advancing an elongate member to a target position in a living body, the elongate member extending from a handle at a proximal end to a distal end coupled to a proximal end of a bushing, a distal end of the bushing releasably coupled to a capsule, the elongate member having a first channel extending longitudinally therethrough, the elongated member including a coil extending from the proximal end to the distal end and a braided portion extending over a portion of the coil the braided portion formed of a plurality of lines braided together such that first and second ones of the lines intersect to enclose a predetermined angle therebetween, the angle being at least 25 degrees and less than 50 degrees, wherein a diameter of filaments of the first one of the lines is different from a diameter of filaments of the second one of the lines; moving a clip distally out of the capsule, the clip including a pair of arms biased toward an open tissue-receiving configuration, the clip being coupled to the handle via a control wire; rotating the handle to cause a corresponding rotation of the clip; and actuating the control wire to draw the clip proximally into the capsule closing the arms over a target tissue. 16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the lines are braided in an interlocking pattern. 17. The method of claim 15 , wherein the first one of the lines includes one of one two, three and four filaments and the second one of the lines includes one of one, two, three and four filaments. 18. The method of claim 15 , further comprising the step of releasing the clip from the elongate member, locking the clip in a closed position over the target tissue.
