A computer-implemented method includes: establishing a connection between a user device of a user and a system onboard a vehicle being driven by the user; requesting access, through the established connection, to user information on the user device; in response to a grant of access, retrieving at least a portion of the user information from the user device, the portion of user information including a digital identification document of the user that had been issued by an entity after having vetted the user, the digital identification document including a digital biometric of the user as well as a digital watermark indicating the issuing entity; and retaining, on the system onboard the vehicle, data encoding the digital identification document of the user on the vehicle such that when the vehicle is inspected by a third-party agent, the digital identification document of the user is presented to the third-party agent.

What is claimed is: 1. A computer-implemented method comprising: establishing a connection between a user device of a user and a system onboard a vehicle occupied by the user; requesting access, through the connection, to user information on the user device; in response to access being granted, retrieving at least a portion of the user information from the user device, the portion of user information including a digital identification document of the user issued by an entity after vetting the user, the digital identification document including a digital biometric of the user and a digital watermark indicating the issuing entity; and retaining, on the system onboard the vehicle, data encoding the digital identification document of the user, wherein when the vehicle is inspected by a third-party agent, the digital identification document of the user is presented to the third-party agent. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user information further comprises a vehicle registration, insurance information, security settings, or user account information. 3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: transmitting the digital identification document to a computing device carried by the third party agent. 4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: establishing a connection between the user device and a digital identification server, wherein the digital identification server determines the digital identification is valid. 5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: periodically updating the user information on the user device. 6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising the system onboard the vehicle verifying, prior to establishing a connection, the user device is a trusted device. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the user device or onboard system comprises a mobile application and wherein the connection is established via the mobile application. 8. A system comprising: at least one computing device, wherein the at least one computing device comprises at least one processor, a display, and one or more storage devices storing instructions that are operable, when executed by the one or more computing devices, to cause the one or more computing devices to perform operations comprising: establishing a connection between a user device of a user and a system onboard a vehicle occupied by the user; requesting access, through the connection, to user information on the user device; in response to access being granted, retrieving at least a portion of the user information from the user device, the portion of user information including a digital identification document of the user issued by an entity after vetting the user, the digital identification document including a digital biometric of the user and a digital watermark indicating the issuing entity; and retaining, on the system onboard the vehicle, data encoding the digital identification document of the user, wherein when the vehicle is inspected by a third-party agent, the digital identification document of the user is presented to the third-party agent. 9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the user information further comprises a vehicle registration, insurance information, security settings, or user account information. 10. The system of claim 8 , the operations further comprising: transmitting the digital identification document to a computing device carried by the third party agent. 11. The system of claim 8 , the operations further comprising: establishing a connection between the user device and a digital identification server, wherein the digital identification server determines the digital identification is valid. 12. The system of claim 8 , the operations further comprising: periodically updating the user information on the user device. 13. The system of claim 8 , the operations further comprising the system onboard the vehicle verifying, prior to establishing a connection, the user device is a trusted device. 14. The system of claim 8 , wherein at least one of the user device or onboard system comprises a mobile application and wherein the connection is established via the mobile application. 15. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing software comprising instructions executable by one or more computers which, upon such execution, cause the one or more computers to perform operations comprising: establishing a connection between a user device of a user and a system onboard a vehicle occupied by the user; requesting access, through the connection, to user information on the user device; in response to access being granted, retrieving at least a portion of the user information from the user device, the portion of user information including a digital identification document of the user issued by an entity after vetting the user, the digital identification document including a digital biometric of the user and a digital watermark indicating the issuing entity; and retaining, on the system onboard the vehicle, data encoding the digital identification document of the user, wherein when the vehicle is inspected by a third-party agent, the digital identification document of the user is presented to the third-party agent. 16. The medium of claim 15 , wherein the user information further comprises a vehicle registration, insurance information, security settings, or user account information. 17. The medium of claim 15 , the operations further comprising: transmitting the digital identification document to a computing device carried by the third party agent. 18. The medium of claim 15 , the operations further comprising: establishing a connection between the user device and a digital identification server, wherein the digital identification server determines the digital identification is valid. 19. The medium of claim 15 , the operations further comprising: periodically updating the user information on the user device. 20. The system of claim 15 , the operations further comprising the system onboard the vehicle verifying, prior to establishing a connection, the user device is a trusted device.
