Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed toward a choke valve system including a choke valve body and a plurality of choke trims. The plurality of choke trims comprises a plug and cage choke trim, an external sleeve choke trim, and a drilling choke trim, wherein the drilling choke trim is configured to enable a fluid flow rate greater than the plug and cage choke trim and the external sleeve choke trim, and wherein each of the plurality of choke trims is configured to be mutually exclusively secured within the choke valve body.

First claim

Opening claim text (preview).

The invention claimed is: 1. A method, comprising: changing choke trim installation between a plurality of choke trims in a chamber of a choke valve body, wherein the plurality of choke trims are different choke trim types, wherein the choke valve body and the plurality of choke trims are designed to enable each of the different choke trim types of the plurality of choke trims to be mutually exclusively secured within the chamber in the choke valve body, wherein the chamber comprises an outer fluid gallery extending around each of the plurality of choke trims when mutually exclusively secured within the chamber. 2. The method of claim 1 , comprising controlling an actuator to adjust a flow by adjusting a position of one choke trim of the plurality choke trims mutually exclusively secured in the chamber of the choke valve body based on an identified type of the one choke trim, wherein the identified type is one of the different choke trim types of the plurality of choke trims. 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the different choke trim types of the plurality of choke trims have different particle tolerances. 4. The method of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of choke trims comprise at least two different ones of: a plug and cage choke trim; an external sleeve choke trim; a floating sleeve choke trim; a drilling choke trim; a clean-up choke trim; a production choke trim; a low capacity choke trim; a high capacity choke trim; or a silencer or labyrinth choke trim, wherein the at least two different ones comprise the different choke trim types. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein changing the choke trim installation comprises changing between a first choke trim and a second choke trim of the different choke trim types of the plurality of choke trims, and further comprising: performing a first process when the first choke trim is mutually exclusively secured in the chamber of the choke valve body; and performing a second process when the second choke trim is mutually exclusively secured in the chamber of the choke valve body. 6. The method of claim 5 , wherein changing the choke trim installation comprises changing between the first or second choke trim and a third choke trim of the different choke trim types of the plurality of choke trims, and further comprising: performing a third process when the third choke trim is mutually exclusively secured in the chamber of the choke valve body. 7. The method of claim 5 , wherein each of the first and second processes comprises at least one of drilling, clean-up, fracking, or production of a mineral extraction system. 8. The method of claim 1 , wherein changing the choke trim installation comprises changing between a drilling choke trim and a production choke trim of the different choke trim types of the plurality of choke trims, wherein the drilling choke trim is a different choke trim type than the production choke trim. 9. The method of claim 8 , comprising: completing a first downhole well formation process when the drilling choke trim is mutually exclusively secured in the chamber of the choke valve body; and completing a second downhole well formation process when the production choke trim is mutually exclusively secured in the chamber of the choke valve body. 10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the first downhole well formation process comprises a well drilling process, a well clean-up process, or both wherein the second downhole well formation process comprises a mineral production process. 11. The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one choke trim of the plurality of choke trims comprises one or more radial openings through a wall of the at least one choke trim. 12. A method, comprising: securing a drilling choke trim within a production choke valve body; completing a first downhole well formation process; removing the drilling choke trim from the production choke valve body; securing a production choke trim within the production choke valve body, wherein the drilling choke trim is a different choke trim type than the production choke trim, wherein the production choke valve body comprises an outer fluid gallery extending around each of the drilling choke trim and the production choke trim when secured in the production choke valve body; and completing a second downhole well formation process. 13. The method of claim 12 , comprising at least one of: the first downhole well formation process comprising a well drilling process, a well clean-up process, or both; or the second downhole well formation process comprising a mineral production process. 14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the production choke comprises a plug and cage choke trim or an external sleeve choke trim. 15. The method of claim 12 , comprising: removing the production choke trim from the production choke valve body; securing the drilling choke trim within the production choke valve body; and completing a third downhole well formation process. 16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the third downhole well formation process comprises a well clean-up process, a well fracking process, or both.
