Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

In some implementations, a user can play a music track from a dynamically generated playlist. The user can provide input indicating that the user likes or dislikes the music track and the playlist can be adjusted based on the user input. In some implementations, information can be presented to the user so that the user can preview changes to the playlist before the changes are made to the playlist. In some implementations, a user can adjust playlist criteria (configuration) by adjusting specific music characteristics. In some implementations, a user can adjust playlist criteria by manipulating a list of representative music tracks. In some implementations, a user can compare the user's playlist to playlists of other users.

What is claimed is: 1. A method comprising: at an electronic device with a display and one or more input devices: while playing a first respective track on the electronic device: concurrently displaying, on the display: a representation of a first playlist that includes one or more tracks, wherein the representation of the first playlist includes one or more visual representations of the one or more tracks and does not include a visual representation of the first respective track; and a playback control user interface element that includes:  a set of controls for controlling playback of the first respective track that is currently playing on the electronic device, and  a set of controls for indicating whether a user likes or dislikes the first respective track that is currently playing on the electronic device, wherein the set of controls includes a first control corresponding to indicating a liking of the first respective track; while concurrently displaying, on the display, the representation of the first playlist and the playback control user interface element, receiving, via the one or more input devices, an input comprising only a single press at the first control of the set of controls corresponding to a request to add a second respective track to the first playlist; and in response to receiving input, updating the representation of the first playlist to include a visual representation of the second respective track and remove a visual representation of a third respective track of the one or more tracks in the first playlist while maintaining a visual representation of a fourth respective track of the one or more tracks in the first playlist. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein before receiving the input, the second respective track is in a different playlist than the first respective track. 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein after receiving the input, the second respective track is in a same playlist as the first respective track. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more visual representations of the one or more tracks comprise album artwork associated with the one or more tracks, and the visual representation of the second respective track comprises album artwork associated with the second respective track. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first playlist is an automatically generated playlist, and the first playlist is automatically updated based on the received input. 6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising concurrently displaying, on the display: representations of a plurality of playlists, including the representation of the first playlist; and the playback control user interface element. 7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the representations of a plurality of playlists includes a representation of a second playlist that includes one or more second tracks, wherein the representation of the second playlist includes one or more second visual representations of the one or more second tracks. 8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the representation of the first playlist is updated while continuing to play the first respective track on the electronic device. 9. The method of claim 1 , wherein: the visual representation of the third respective track is at a respective position, other than a first position or a last position, among the one or more visual representations of the one or more tracks, and updating the representation of the first playlist to include the visual representation of the second respective track includes displaying the visual representation of the second respective track at the respective position among the one or more visual representations of the one or more tracks. 10. The method of claim 1 , wherein updating the representation of the first playlist comprises updating the representation of the first playlist in real-time. 11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the representation of the first playlist is updated while continuing to concurrently display the representation of the first playlist and the playback control user interface element. 12. A non-transitory computer-readable medium including one or more sequences of instructions which, when executed by one or more processors of an electronic device with a display and one or more input devices, cause the one or more processors to perform a method comprising: while playing a first respective track on the electronic device: concurrently displaying, on the display: a representation of a first playlist that includes one or more tracks, wherein the representation of the first playlist includes one or more visual representations of the one or more tracks and does not include a visual representation of the first respective track; and a playback control user interface element that includes: a set of controls for controlling playback of the first respective track that is currently playing on the electronic device, and a set of controls for indicating whether a user likes or dislikes the first respective track that is currently playing on the electronic device, wherein the set of controls includes a first control corresponding to indicating a liking of the first respective track; while concurrently displaying, on the display, the representation of the first playlist and the playback control user interface element, receiving, via the one or more input devices, an input comprising only a single press, at the first control of the set of controls corresponding to a request to add a second respective track to the first playlist; and in response to receiving the input, updating the representation of the first playlist to include a visual representation of the second respective track and remove a visual representation of a third respective track of the one or more tracks in the first playlist while maintaining a visual representation of a fourth respective track of the one or more tracks in the first playlist. 13. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein before receiving the input, the second respective track is in a different playlist than the first respective track. 14. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13 , wherein after receiving the input, the second respective track is in a same playlist as the first respective track. 15. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the one or more visual representations of the one or more tracks comprise album artwork associated with the one or more tracks, and the visual representation of the second respective track comprises album artwork associated with the second respective track. 16. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the first playlist is an automatically generated playlist, and the first playlist is automatically updated based on the received input. 17. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the method further comprises concurrently displaying, on the display: representations of a plurality of playlists, including the representation of the first playlist; and the playback control user interface element. 18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the representations of a plurality of playlists includes a representation of a second playlist that includes one or more second tracks, wherein the representation of the second playlist includes one or more second visual representations of the one or more second tracks. 19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the representation of the first playlist is updated while
