Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Gloves comprising a polymeric coating or layer, optionally including a fabric liner, and at least one reinforcement, disposed on a part(s) of the polymeric coating or layer and/or ac part(s) of the fabric liner, and methods of making the gloves are disclosed.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. A supported glove having at least one silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement, the supported glove comprising: a fabric liner in a shape of a glove comprising an index finger, a middle finger, a ring finger, a little finger, a thumb, a palm side, a backhand side and a cuff; a first polymeric coating comprising a nitrile butadiene material adhered to the fabric liner at least in a thumb crotch defined by a region between the index finger and the thumb; and a silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer disposed on a portion of the first polymeric coating over the thumb crotch, wherein the silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer comprises a non-aqueous polyurethane material silkscreen-printed on the glove to enhance grip in wet and oily environments and effective to strengthen the thumb crotch, wherein the silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer covers an area of the portion of the first polymeric coating limited to reinforce the thumb crotch. 2. The supported glove of claim 1 , further comprising at least one additional silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer disposed on portions of the first polymeric coating adhered to the fabric liner at at least one additional finger crotch between any two adjacent fingers. 3. The supported glove of claim 1 , wherein an additional silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer is disposed directly on a part of the fabric liner to which the first polymeric coating is not adhered. 4. The supported glove of claim 1 , wherein 90 to 100% of the silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer consists of a non-aqueous polyurethane material. 5. The supported glove of claim 1 , wherein the silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer comprises a thermosetting polymeric material. 6. The supported glove of claim 1 , wherein the polymeric coating comprises a first polymeric emulsion including natural rubber polyisoprene, synthetic latexes, synthetic polyisoprene, carboxylated acrylonitrile butadiene, non-carboxylated acrylonitrile butadiene, butyl latex, polychloroprene, nitriles, aqueous-polyurethanes, non-aqueous-polyurethanes, or styrene-butadiene materials, or mixtures or blends thereof. 7. The supported glove of claim 1 , wherein the silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer comprises an elliptical shape. 8. The supported glove of claim 1 , wherein the silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer comprises a saddle shape. 9. The supported glove of claim 1 , wherein a further silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement is disposed on a backhand side and a palm side. 10. The supported glove of claim 1 , wherein the silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer comprises an elliptical shape that is 0.5 to 5.0 mm in thickness. 11. A supported glove having at least one silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement, the supported glove comprising: a fabric liner in a shape of a glove comprising an index finger, a middle finger, a ring finger, a little finger, a thumb, a palm side, a backhand side and a cuff; a first cured polymeric coating comprising a nitrile butadiene material adhered to the fabric liner at least in a thumb crotch defined by a region between the index finger and the thumb; and a cured silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer disposed on a portion of the first cured polymeric coating over the thumb crotch, wherein the cured silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer comprises a non-aqueous polyurethane material silkscreen-printed on the glove to enhance grip in wet and oily environments and effective to strengthen the thumb crotch, wherein the silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer an area of the portion of the first polymeric coating limited to reinforce the thumb crotch. 12. The supported glove of claim 11 , further comprising at least one additional cured silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer disposed on portions of the first polymeric coating adhered to the fabric liner at at at least one finger crotch between any two adjacent fingers. 13. The supported glove of claim 11 , wherein an additional cured silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer is disposed directly on a part of the fabric liner to which the first polymeric coating is not adhered. 14. The supported glove of claim 11 , wherein the first cured polymeric coating further comprises a first cured polymeric emulsion including natural rubber polyisoprene, synthetic latexes, synthetic polyisoprene, carboxylated acrylonitrile butadiene, non-carboxylated acrylonitrile butadiene, butyl latex, polychloroprene, nitriles, aqueous-polyurethanes, non-aqueous-polyurethanes, or styrene-butadiene materials, or mixtures or blends thereof. 15. The supported glove of claim 1 , wherein the silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer comprises an open-celled foam comprising 15-50% volumetric air content. 16. The supported glove of claim 1 , wherein the silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer comprises closed-celled foam. 17. The supported glove of claim 1 , wherein the silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer is disposed within a thumb crotch having a major axis of approximately 50 mm in a length that runs longitudinally along the thumb crotch and a minor axis of approximately 30 mm in a second length, transverse to the major axis. 18. The supported glove of claim 1 , wherein the silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer comprises chain extender, carbon black, and thickener. 19. The supported glove of claim 1 , wherein the silkscreen-printed polymeric reinforcement layer is disposed entirely within a thumb crotch defined by a region between the index finger and the thumb.
