The present invention relates to compound of formula (I):whereinR is O—R3 orR1 and R2 are identical or different and are each independently H, (C1-C6)alkyl, —CO—(C1-C21)alkyl or —CO—(C11-C21)alkenyl group, provided that at least one of R1 or R2 is H or (C1-C6)alkyl,R3 is a —CO—(C11-C21)alkyl or —CO—(C11-C21)alkenyl group,or its pharmaceutically acceptable salts, racemates, diastereoisomers, enantiomers, or mixtures thereof,for use in prevention and/or treatment of a disease or disorder linked to an exacerbated vascular, lymphatic or mucosal permeability.

The invention claimed is: 1. A method for the treatment of encephalitis comprising administering, to a person in need thereof, a compound of formula (IIb): with R 3 selected from the group consisting of: or its pharmaceutically acceptable salts, racemates, diastereoisomers, enantiomers, or mixtures thereof. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the compound is administered for 1 to 4 days, and just before and/or during the acute phase response associated with factors inducing the increased vascular, lymphatic or mucosal permeability. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the compound of formula (IIb) is administered in association with at least one additional active compound selected from the group consisting of antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal, antiparasitic, anti-inflammatory active compound and mixtures thereof.
