Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A moisture detecting apparatus includes: a light emitting unit including a first light source configured to emit light having a first wavelength as a peak wavelength, and a second light source configured to emit light having a second wavelength as a peak wavelength; a detecting unit configured to detect a first detection value indicating an extent to which the light emitted from the first light source is transmitted through a recording material, and a second detection value indicating an extent to which the light emitted by the second light source is transmitted through the recording material, based on a light receiving result of a light receiving unit; and a determination unit configured to determine a value related to a moisture content of the recording material based on the first detection value and the second detection value.

What is claimed is: 1. A detection device comprising: a first light source configured to emit first light on a sheet, the first light having a peak wavelength that is included in a band from 400 nm to 800 nm; a second light source configured to emit second light on the sheet, the second light having a peak wavelength that is longer than the peak wavelength of the first light and included in a band from 800 nm to 2500 nm; a light receiving unit configured to receive the first light and the second light transmitted through the sheet; and a rotation member configured to rotate and press the sheet, on which at least one of the first light and the second light is emitted, against a conveyance guide for guiding the sheet, wherein, as viewed in a direction of a rotational axis of the rotation member, light paths from the first light source and the second light source to the light receiving unit overlap with the rotation member. 2. The detection device according to claim 1 , wherein, as viewed in the direction of the rotational axis of the rotation member, each center line of the light paths does not pass through the rotational axis of the rotation member, and the light paths intersect with the direction of the rotational axis and a conveyance direction in which the sheet is conveyed. 3. The detection device according to claim 1 , wherein, as viewed in the direction of the rotational axis of the rotation member, the light paths pass through a position on a downstream side of the rotational axis of the rotation member in a conveyance direction in which the sheet is conveyed. 4. The detection device according to claim 1 , wherein the rotation member includes a first rotating portion and a second rotating portion, and wherein the first rotating portion and the second rotating portion are arranged in a direction of the rotational axis of the rotation member, and a diameter of the first rotating portion is shorter than a diameter of the second rotating portion. 5. The detection device according to claim 1 , wherein the rotation member includes a first cylindrical member, a second cylindrical member, and a connecting member that connects the first cylindrical member and the second cylindrical member, and wherein, as viewed in the direction of the rotational axis of the rotation member, the light paths do not overlap with the connecting member, and the light paths do overlap with the first cylindrical member and the second cylindrical member. 6. The detection device according to claim 1 , wherein light receiving sensitivity of the light receiving unit ranges from 400 nm to 1000 nm. 7. The detection device according to claim 1 , wherein the peak wavelength of the second light is included in a band from 800 nm to 1000 nm. 8. The detection device according to claim 7 , wherein the peak wavelength of the second light is 850 nm. 9. The detection device according to claim 1 , wherein the light receiving unit is configured to receive an amount of the first light and an amount of the second light. 10. The detection device according to claim 1 , further comprising: a third light source configured to emit third light on the sheet and provided on an opposite side from the first light source and the second light source with respect to a path on which the sheet is conveyed, and wherein the light receiving unit is configured to receive the third light reflected on the sheet. 11. The detection device according to claim 10 , wherein the light receiving unit is configured to receive an amount of the third light.
