Official abstract text for this publication.
A server maintains an ephemeral message gallery of ephemeral messages. Each ephemeral message is posted to the ephemeral message gallery by a user for viewing by recipients via recipient devices. In response to an ephemeral message gallery view request from any of the recipient devices, the ephemeral messages in the ephemeral message gallery are displayed on the requesting device in automated sequence, each message being displayed for a respective display duration before display of the next message in the ephemeral message gallery. A user interface via which the ephemeral message gallery is viewable includes indicia with respect to the number of times the ephemeral message gallery has been viewed online by other users.

The invention claimed is: 1. A method comprising: maintaining an ephemeral message gallery uniquely associated with a particular end user of a messaging platform, the ephemeral message gallery comprising a plurality of ephemeral messages posted to the ephemeral message gallery by the particular end user, each of the plurality of ephemeral messages comprising respective visual media content, the ephemeral message gallery being viewable online by, responsive to a view request from a requesting device, causing automated display of the plurality of ephemeral messages non-synchronously one after another in sequence on the requesting device, wherein: each of the plurality of ephemeral messages is made available for online viewing as part of the ephemeral message gallery for a predefined limited availability period only; the availability periods for the plurality of ephemeral messages expire at different respective times; and each ephemeral message is automatically removed from the ephemeral gallery at the expiry of the corresponding availability period; causing display, on a client-side user device associated with the particular end user, of a user interface that automatically includes viewing history indicia regarding online views provided to requesting devices responsive to view requests received with respect to the ephemeral message gallery, wherein the viewing history indicia comprises indicia of the number of ephemeral gallery views with respect to the ephemeral message gallery; and causing display in the user interface of an availability indicia indicative of time remaining for continued availability of the ephemeral message gallery. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the viewing history indicia provides a quantification of online views of the ephemeral message gallery via a social media application hosting the ephemeral message gallery. 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the viewing history indicia comprises a numerical indication of the number of times the ephemeral message gallery has been viewed online. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user interface displays information with respect to a plurality of ephemeral message galleries, the user interface displaying separate respective viewing history indicia for the plurality of ephemeral message galleries. 5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the viewing history indicia comprises, for each of the plurality of ephemeral message galleries, a respective number of online views attracted by the corresponding ephemeral message gallery. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the availability indicia comprises an elapsed time since posting of a last posted one of the plurality of ephemeral messages in the ephemeral message gallery, the ephemeral message gallery becoming unavailable upon expiry of a default time period after posting of the last posted ephemeral message. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user interface displays information with respect to a plurality of ephemeral message galleries, the method comprising causing display of respective gallery availability indicia indicating, for each of the plurality of ephemeral message galleries, information about a time remaining for online availability of the corresponding ephemeral message gallery. 8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising causing display in the user interface of screenshot indicia regarding screenshots captured with respect to the plurality of ephemeral messages during online viewing thereof. 9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the screenshot indicia indicates a cumulative number of screenshots taken of the plurality of ephemeral message in the ephemeral message gallery during online viewing thereof. 10. A system comprising: one or more computer processors; and one or more memories storing instructions executed by the one or more computer processors to configure the one or more computer processors to perform automated operations comprising: maintaining an ephemeral message gallery uniquely associated with a particular end user of a messaging platform, the ephemeral message gallery comprising a plurality of ephemeral messages posted to the ephemeral message gallery by the particular end user, each of the plurality of ephemeral messages comprising respective visual media content, the ephemeral message gallery being viewable online by, responsive to a view request from a requesting device, causing automated display of the plurality of ephemeral messages non-synchronously one after another in sequence on the requesting device, wherein: each of the plurality of ephemeral messages is made available for online viewing as part of the ephemeral message gallery for a predefined limited availability period only; the availability periods for the plurality of ephemeral messages expire at different respective times; and each ephemeral message is automatically removed from the ephemeral gallery at the expiry of the corresponding availability period; causing display, on a client-side user device associated with the particular end user, of a user interface that automatically includes viewing history indicia regarding online views provided to requesting devices responsive to view requests received with respect to the ephemeral message gallery, wherein the viewing history indicia comprises indicia of the number of ephemeral gallery views with respect to the ephemeral message gallery; and causing display in the user interface of an availability indicia indicative of time remaining for continued availability of the ephemeral message gallery. 11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the viewing hi story indicia comprises a numerical indication of the number of times the ephemeral message gallery has been viewed online. 12. The system of claim 10 , wherein the instructions are configured to cause display of the user interface such that the user interface displays information with respect to a plurality of ephemeral message galleries, the user interface displaying separate respective viewing history indicia for the plurality of ephemeral message galleries. 13. The system of claim 12 , wherein the viewing history indicia comprises, for each of the plurality of ephemeral message galleries, a respective number of online views attracted by the corresponding ephemeral message gallery. 14. The system of claim 10 , wherein availability indicia comprises an elapsed time since posting of a last posted one of the plurality of ephemeral messages in the ephemeral message gallery, the ephemeral message gallery becoming unavailable upon expiry of a default time period after posting of the last posted ephemeral message. 15. The system of claim 14 , wherein the instructions are further configured to cause display in the user interface of information with respect to a plurality of ephemeral message galleries, the user interface including respective gallery availability indicia indicating, for each of the plurality of ephemeral message galleries, information about a time remaining for online availability of the corresponding ephemeral message gallery. 16. The system of claim 10 , wherein the instructions are further configured to cause display in the user interface of screenshot indicia regarding screenshots captured with respect to the plurality of ephemeral messages during online viewing thereof. 17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the screenshot indicia indicates a cumulative number of screenshots taken of the plurality of ephemeral message in the ephemeral message gallery during online viewing thereof. 18.
