An oral care implement including a handle and an oral care refill head. The handle has a gripping portion, an engagement component coupled to a distal end of the gripping portion, and a stem. The engagement component includes a plate portion and a first engagement feature. The stem extends through an opening in the engagement component and protrudes from the plate portion. The oral care refill head includes an oral care treatment portion and a sleeve portion. The sleeve portion has an inner surface that defines a sleeve cavity having a cavity axis and a second engagement feature. When the oral care refill head is detachably coupled to the handle, the first and second engagement features mate with one another to at least one of: (1) position the oral care refill head and the handle in an operational alignment; and (2) lock the oral care refill head to the handle.

What is claimed is: 1. An oral care implement comprising: a handle comprising: a gripping portion having a distal end; and an engagement component coupled to the distal end of the gripping portion, the engagement component comprising: a plate portion comprising a top surface and an aperture; and a first engagement feature; and a stem extending through the opening in the engagement component and protruding from the plate portion so that the top surface of the plate portion forms an annular shoulder that circumscribes the stem; an oral care refill head comprising: an oral care treatment portion; and a sleeve portion comprising an inner surface that defines a sleeve cavity having a cavity axis, the sleeve portion comprising a second engagement feature; the oral care refill head alterable between: a first state in which the oral care refill head is separated from the handle; and a second state in which the stem of the handle is disposed within the sleeve cavity of the sleeve portion, wherein in the second state the first and second engagement features mate with one another to at least one of: (1) position the oral care refill head and the handle in an operational alignment; and (2) lock the oral care refill head to the handle; and wherein the engagement component is coupled to the distal end of the gripping portion when the oral care refill head is in each of the first and second states. 2. The oral care implement according to claim 1 wherein the first engagement feature comprises an alignment protrusion extending from the top surface of the plate portion. 3. The oral care implement according to claim 2 wherein the plate portion of the engagement component has an inner surface defining the aperture and an outer surface, and wherein the alignment protrusion is spaced radially inward of the outer surface and is adjacent to the aperture. 4. The oral care implement according to claim 3 wherein at least a portion of the alignment protrusion is flush with the inner surface of the plate portion. 5. The oral care implement according to claim 2 wherein the alignment protrusion comprises a distal end and first and second sidewalls that extend from the top surface of the plate portion to the distal end, each of the first and second sidewalls comprising smooth outer surfaces that are free of any notches or protrusions. 6. The oral care implement according to claim 5 wherein the alignment protrusion tapers along at least a portion of its length as it extends from the top surface of the plate portion to the distal end of the alignment protrusion. 7. The oral care implement according to claim 2 wherein the alignment protrusion extends from the top surface of the plate portion at an oblique angle in a direction towards the aperture. 8. The oral care implement according to claim 7 wherein a first portion of the alignment protrusion that includes a distal end of the alignment protrusion is in contact with the stem and a second portion of the alignment protrusion that is closer to the top surface of the plate portion than the first portion of the alignment protrusion is spaced apart from the stem. 9. The oral care implement according to claim 2 wherein the second engagement feature comprises an alignment channel that is configured to receive the alignment protrusion so that that the alignment protrusion nests within the alignment channel when the oral care refill head is in the second state. 10. The oral care implement according to claim 9 further comprising a plurality of ribs extending from the inner surface of the sleeve portion and into the sleeve cavity, wherein adjacent ones of the ribs are circumferentially spaced apart from one another so that a plurality of channels are formed between the plurality of ribs, the alignment channel being one of the plurality of channels, and wherein the alignment channel has a greater width than a remainder of the plurality of channels so that the alignment protrusion is prohibited from entering into and nesting within any of the remainder of the plurality of channels. 11. The oral care implement according to claim 10 wherein the sleeve portion of the oral care refill head further comprises a locking aperture configured to mate with a locking protuberance of the handle to lock the oral care refill head to the handle when the oral care refill head is in the second state, and wherein the alignment channel and the locking aperture are circumferentially aligned with one another along the sleeve portion of the oral care refill head. 12. The oral care implement according to claim 11 wherein each of the plurality of ribs extends from a proximal end of the sleeve portion to a distal end that is transversely aligned with the locking aperture or located further from the proximal end of the sleeve portion than the locking aperture. 13. The oral care implement according to claim 1 wherein the stem of the handle comprises a first sensor unit and wherein the sleeve portion of the oral care refill head comprises a window that is aligned with the first sensor unit when the oral care refill head is in the second state so that the first sensor unit is exposed through the window. 14. The oral care implement according to claim 1 wherein the stem of the handle comprises a stem snap element and the sleeve portion of the oral care refill head comprises a sleeve snap element, and wherein when the oral care refill head is in the second state, the oral care refill head is secured to the handle by a snap-fit interlock between the stem snap element and the sleeve snap element. 15. The oral care implement according to claim 14 wherein the stem snap element comprises a locking protuberance and the sleeve snap element comprises a locking aperture, wherein the locking aperture has an oval shape that is elongated in a direction that is transverse to the cavity axis. 16. The oral care implement according to claim 1 further comprising: wherein the gripping portion of the handle comprises one or more notches formed into the distal end; and wherein the engagement component comprises a bottom surface and one or more protuberances protruding from the bottom surface, the one or more protuberances of the engagement component nesting within the one or more notches of the gripping portion to couple the engagement component to the gripping portion. 17. The oral care implement according claim 1 wherein the first engagement feature is an alignment protuberance that protrudes from the annular shoulder and is non-integral with the stem. 18. The oral care implement according to claim 1 further comprising: the handle comprising: the first engagement feature comprising an alignment protrusion extending from the top surface of the plate portion; the stem extending along a stem axis from the annular shoulder to a distal end, the stem comprising a locking protuberance and an elongated alignment notch located between the locking protuberance and the distal end of the stem; and the oral care refill head comprising: the second engagement feature comprising an alignment channel within which the alignment protrusion nests when the oral care refill head is in the second state; a locking aperture within which the locking protuberance nests when the oral care refill head is in the second state to lock the oral care refill head to the handle; and an elongated alignment rib extending from the inner surface of the sleeve portion, the elongated alignment rib nesting within the elongated alignment notch when the oral care refill head is in the second state, wherein the
