The present disclosure provides fluid barriers as well as systems and methods of forming fluid barriers. The method includes cleaning, via a blast media, a first side of a component and heating the component to a first temperature. Subsequently, the component is cleaned using a solvent. Subsequent to heating at least the component, a primer coating layer is formed on the first side of the component, and a topcoat layer is formed in contact with the primer coating layer. A primer coating material can be heated to a second temperature prior to formation of the primer coating layer. The first temperature can be different than the second temperature.

What is claimed is: 1. A method of forming a fluid barrier, comprising: cleaning, using a blast media, a first side of a component; heating the component to a first temperature; subsequently, cleaning and cooling the first side of the component using a solvent to a second temperature; and heating a primer coating material until the primer coating material reaches a viscosity of about 1500 centipoise to about 3300 centipoise; applying the heated primer coating material to form a primer coating layer on the first side of the component while the component is at the second temperature. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the blast media comprises a wheat starch, a corn starch, or a polymer-based media. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein each of the first temperature and the second temperature is from about 120° F. to about 140° F. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein cleaning the first side of the component using the blast media comprises grit-blasting a plurality of three-dimensional structures formed from a composite material on the first side of the component. 5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the composite material comprises fibers or threads, the composite material comprising a first plurality of three-dimensional structures, the composite material disposed over a core layer comprising a second plurality of three-dimensional structures. 6. The method of claim 5 , wherein applying the heated primer coating comprises filling at least a portion of the plurality of voids with the heated primer coating. 7. The method of claim 4 , wherein the composite material comprises a carbon fiber reinforced polymer. 8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising, prior to forming the primer coating layer, heating a container of primer coating to a third temperature, the third temperature being from about 68° F. to about 140° F. 9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the primer coating layer comprises polyurea or polysulfide. 10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising forming a topcoat layer in contact with the primer coating layer, wherein the topcoat layer is formed from a reflective polyurethane material. 11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the primer coating is heated to a third temperature within about 10° F. of the second temperature. 12. A method of forming a fluid barrier, comprising: cleaning, via a blast media, a first side of a component; heating the component to a first temperature; heating a primer coating material to a second temperature until the primer coating material reaches a viscosity of about 1500 centipoise to about 3300 centipoise; subsequent to heating the component to the first temperature, cleaning the component using a solvent; subsequent to heating the component and heating the primer coating material, forming a primer coating layer to the first side of the component; and forming a topcoat layer in contact with the primer coating layer. 13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the blast media comprises wheat starch, corn starch, or polymer-based media. 14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the first temperature is from about 120° F. to about 140° F. 15. The method of claim 12 , wherein the second temperature is from about 68° F. to about 140° F. 16. The method of claim 12 , wherein the primer coating layer is formed from polyurea or polysulfide. 17. The method of claim 12 , wherein the topcoat layer is formed from a reflective polyurethane material. 18. The method of claim 12 , wherein forming the primer coating layer comprises spraying two or more interlayers of primer coating material. 19. The method of claim 12 , wherein the first temperature is greater than the second temperature.
