Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A light source device includes a plurality of light sources arranged in a matrix, a substrate, and a reflective member. The reflective member includes first walls defining a first region entirely surrounded by the first walls in a plan view, and second walls located on an outer side of the first walls, the second walls defining a second region having an opening facing outside of the reflective member and a third region. An area of the second region is greater than an area of the third region in the plan view. The light sources are disposed respectively in the first region and in the second region while none of the light sources is disposed in the third region.

The invention claimed is: 1. A light source device comprising: a plurality of light sources; a substrate on which the light sources are arranged in a matrix; and a reflective member including first walls defining a first region surrounded by the first walls in a plan view, second walls located on an outer side of the first walls, the second walls defining a second region having an opening facing outside of the reflective member and a third region, an area of the second region being greater than an area of the third region in the plan view, and bottom surfaces respectively arranged in the first region, the second region and the third region, wherein the light sources are disposed respectively in the first region and in the second region while none of the light sources is disposed in the third region. 2. The light source device according to claim 1 , wherein the first walls are disposed on the substrate to define the first region having a quadrilateral outline. 3. The light source device according to claim 1 , wherein the first walls constitute vertical sides and lateral sides of the first region in the plan view, the vertical sides being parallel to each other or the lateral sides being parallel to each other, and each of the second region and the third region includes an inclined side or a curved side with respect to the vertical sides or the lateral sides of the first region in the plan view. 4. The light source device according to claim 2 , wherein the first walls constitute vertical sides and lateral sides of the first region in the plan view, the vertical sides being parallel to each other or the lateral sides being parallel to each other, and each of the second region and the third region includes an inclined side or a curved side with respect to the vertical sides or the lateral sides of the first region in the plan view. 5. The light source device according to claim 1 , wherein the second walls further define at least one additional third region, and the third region and the additional third region are not next to each other in a vertical direction, a lateral direction, or an oblique direction in the plan view. 6. The light source device according to claim 2 , wherein the second walls further define at least one additional third region, and the third region and the additional third region are not next to each other in a vertical direction, a lateral direction, or an oblique direction in the plan view. 7. The light source device according to claim 3 , wherein the second walls further define at least one additional third region, and the third region and the additional third region are not next to each other in a vertical direction, a lateral direction, or an oblique direction in the plan view. 8. The light source device according to claim 4 , wherein the second walls further define at least one additional third region, and the third region and the additional third region are not next to each other in a vertical direction, a lateral direction, or an oblique direction in the plan view. 9. The light source device according to claim 1 , further comprising at least one member selected from a group consisting of a diffusion plate, a diffusion sheet, a wavelength conversion sheet configured to convert light emitted from at least one of the light sources to light having a different wavelength, a prism sheet, and a polarizing sheet. 10. The light source device according to claim 2 , further comprising at least one member selected from a group consisting of a diffusion plate, a diffusion sheet, a wavelength conversion sheet configured to convert light emitted from at least one of the light sources to light having a different wavelength, a prism sheet, and a polarizing sheet. 11. The light source device according to claim 3 , further comprising at least one member selected from a group consisting of a diffusion plate, a diffusion sheet, a wavelength conversion sheet configured to convert light emitted from at least one of the light sources to light having a different wavelength, a prism sheet, and a polarizing sheet. 12. The light source device according to claim 4 , further comprising at least one member selected from a group consisting of a diffusion plate, a diffusion sheet, a wavelength conversion sheet configured to convert light emitted from at least one of the light sources to light having a different wavelength, a prism sheet, and a polarizing sheet. 13. The light source device according to claim 5 , further comprising at least one member selected from a group consisting of a diffusion plate, a diffusion sheet, a wavelength conversion sheet configured to convert light emitted from at least one of the light sources to light having a different wavelength, a prism sheet, and a polarizing sheet. 14. The light source device according to claim 6 , further comprising at least one member selected from a group consisting of a diffusion plate, a diffusion sheet, a wavelength conversion sheet configured to convert light emitted from at least one of the light sources to light having a different wavelength, a prism sheet, and a polarizing sheet. 15. The light source device according to claim 7 , further comprising at least one member selected from a group consisting of a diffusion plate, a diffusion sheet, a wavelength conversion sheet configured to convert light emitted from at least one of the light sources to light having a different wavelength, a prism sheet, and a polarizing sheet. 16. The light source device according to claim 8 , further comprising at least one member selected from a group consisting of a diffusion plate, a diffusion sheet, a wavelength conversion sheet configured to convert light emitted from at least one of the light sources to light having a different wavelength, a prism sheet, and a polarizing sheet. 17. The light source device according to claim 1 , further comprising an exterior substrate member including a reflective wall surrounding an outer periphery of the substrate. 18. The light source device according to claim 1 , further comprising a covering substrate member including a reflective wall surrounding an outer periphery of the reflective member. 19. The light source device according to claim 1 , wherein each of the light sources has a batwing light distribution characteristic. 20. The light source device according to claim 1 , wherein the bottom surfaces arranged in the first region and the second rection each defines a through hole in which a corresponding one of the light sources is disposed. 21.
