Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Provided is a potassium titanate powder that can avoid safety and health concerns and concurrently, during use in a friction material, can give excellent frictional properties. A potassium titanate powder is a powder formed of bar-like potassium titanate particles having an average length of 30 μm or more, an average breadth of 10 m or more, and an average aspect ratio of 1.5 or more, wherein the bar-like potassium titanate particles are represented by a composition formula K2TinO2n+1 (where n=5.5 to 6.5).

First claim

Opening claim text (preview).

The invention claimed is: 1. A potassium titanate powder formed of bar-like potassium titanate particles having an average length of 30 μm or more, an average breadth of 15 μm or more, and an average aspect ratio of 1.5 to 3, the bar-like potassium titanate particles being represented by a composition formula K 2 Ti n O 2n+1 (where n=5.5 to 6.5). 2. The potassium titanate powder according to claim 1 , wherein a content of particles having a length of 30 μm or more and a breadth of 10 μm or more is 50% by volume or more. 3. The potassium titanate powder according to claim 1 , wherein a content of fibrous particles is 0.3% by volume or less. 4. The potassium titanate powder according to claim 1 , having a specific surface area of 0.3 m 2 /g to 3 m 2 /g. 5. A friction modifier made of the potassium titanate powder according to claim 1 . 6. A resin composition containing the potassium titanate powder according to claim 1 and a thermosetting resin. 7. The resin composition according to claim 6 , wherein a content of a copper component is 0.5% by mass or less in terms of copper element in a total amount of the resin composition of 100% by mass. 8. A friction material being a formed body of the resin composition according to claim 6 . 9. A friction member comprising the friction material according to claim 8 .
