What is claimed is: 1. A pistol cartridge, comprising: a cartridge casing with an open mouth and an interior; propellant in the interior of the cartridge casing; and a bullet secured in the mouth of the cartridge casing, the bullet comprising: a forward component, a core component positioned rearwardly of the forward component, and a jacket defining a cup, the forward component received within the cup and the core component seated in the cup, the jacket having a leading edge portion at an adjacent portion of the forward component, the leading edge portion comprising a reverse taper such that the leading edge portion is separated from the adjacent portion of the forward component. 2. The pistol cartridge of claim 1 , further comprising a V-shaped recess formed by the leading edge and the forward component and defining a circumferential scoop. 3. The pistol cartridge of claim 1 , the bullet comprising a rearward facing concavity. 4. The pistol cartridge of claim 1 , the forward component in direct contact with the core component. 5. The pistol cartridge of claim 1 , the forward component comprising a mid portion adjoining a forward nose portion, and a rearward portion adjoining the mid portion, wherein the leading edge portion of the jacket terminates at the mid portion. 6. The pistol cartridge of claim 5 , the forward nose portion being ogival. 7. The pistol cartridge of claim 5 , the forward nose portion comprising cutouts spaced circumferentially around the ogive portion to facilitate opening the jacket upon impact. 8. The pistol cartridge of claim 5 , the mid portion further comprising a profile selected from cylindrical, slight forward taper, and conical. 9. The pistol cartridge of claim 1 , the jacket comprising copper. 10. The pistol cartridge of claim 1 , the core being unitary with the jacket. 11. A pistol cartridge comprising a cartridge casing with open mouth and an interior, propellant in the interior of the cartridge casing, and a bullet secured in the mouth of the cartridge casing, the bullet comprising: a forward component; a jacket formed of copper and defining a cup, the forward component received in the cup, the jacket having a forward edge portion comprising a reverse taper such that the leading edge portion is separated from the adjacent forward nose portion; and a rearward facing concavity. 12. The pistol cartridge of claim 11 , further comprising a V-shaped recess formed by the leading edge and the forward component and defining a circumferential scoop. 13. The pistol cartridge of claim 11 , the bullet further comprising a core, the core positioned rearwardly of the forward component, the forward component in direct contact with the core. 14. The pistol cartridge of claim 11 , the forward component comprising a mid portion adjoining a forward nose portion, and a rearward portion adjoining the mid portion, wherein the leading edge portion of the jacket terminates at the mid portion. 15. A pistol cartridge comprising a cartridge casing with open mouth and an interior, propellant in the interior of the cartridge casing, and a bullet secured in the mouth of the cartridge casing, the bullet comprising: a forward component comprising a forward nose portion and a cylindrical portion directly rearward of the forward nose portion; a jacket comprising copper and defining a cup, the jacket having a leading edge portion, the leading edge portion comprising a reverse taper such that the leading edge portion is separated from the adjacent cylindrical portion; and a core in the cup of the jacket. 16. The pistol cartridge of claim 15 , further comprising a V-shaped recess formed by the leading edge and the forward component and defining a circumferential scoop. 17. The pistol cartridge of claim 15 , the bullet comprising a rearward facing concavity. 18. The pistol cartridge of claim 15 , wherein the cylindrical portion is a mid portion and the forward component further comprises a rearward portion comprising a tapered surface.
