A vehicle configuration wherein the center of mass of the vehicle is approximately superimposed upon the passenger and driver centers of mass when seated within the vehicle. An occupant's center of mass can be approximated using a standard center of mass position approximation, or a combination of any number of standard center of mass position approximations. The vehicle's center of mass can be approximately superimposed upon the occupant's center of mass in at least the longitudinal and vertical directions.

The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows: 1. A method for assembling a vehicle having a chassis with a front chassis portion secured to front wheels, a rear chassis portion secured to rear wheels, and a mid-chassis portion supporting an occupant cabin, the method comprising: securing an engine rigidly to a transmission to form an engine and transmission assembly; moving the engine and transmission assembly through the mid chassis portion and through a front end of the rear chassis portion to within the rear chassis portion; and securing the engine and transmission assembly within the rear chassis portion. 2. The method of assembling a vehicle of claim 1 , further comprising securing a CVT to the engine and transmission after securing the engine to the transmission and before moving the assembly to within the rear chassis portion. 3. The method of assembling a vehicle of claim 2 , wherein the transmission comprises a transaxle. 4. The method of assembling a vehicle of claim 3 , wherein a forward end of the engine is mounted to the rear chassis portion and a rearward end of the transaxle is mounted to the rear chassis portion. 5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the rear chassis portion includes upper frame members spaced together a distance closer than the width or length of the engine. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the vehicle includes at least one seat assembly, said seat assembly being secured in front of the engine after moving the engine and transmission through the mid chassis portion. 7. A chassis for a vehicle having a prime mover, comprising: a front-chassis portion secured to front wheels; a mid-chassis portion forming an occupant cabin and including a seat support frame; a rear-chassis portion secured to rear wheels and forming a prime mover mounting area, the rear-chassis portion being longitudinally rearward of the mid-chassis portion and primarily accessible from the cabin area during installation of the prime mover; and a driver seat removably attached to the mid-chassis portion, wherein the driver seat is removed to access the prime mover mounting area. 8. The chassis of claim 7 , further comprising a passenger seat removably attached to the mid-chassis portion, wherein the passenger seat is removed along with the driver seat to access the prime mover mounting area. 9. The chassis of claim 8 , wherein the driver seat and the passenger seat are removably attached to said seat support frame. 10. The chassis of claim 9 , wherein the seat support frame is fixedly secured within the mid-chassis portion. 11. The chassis of claim 7 , wherein the chassis includes members between the mid-chassis portion and the rear-chassis portion forming an opening larger than a section of the prime mover such that the prime mover can fit through such opening. 12. The chassis of claim 11 , wherein the prime mover includes an engine and a transmission and wherein the opening is larger than a combined section of the engine and transmission. 13. A vehicle comprising: an engine and transmission fastened together to form an engine-transmission assembly; a chassis including a front-chassis portion, a mid-chassis portion, and a rear-chassis portion, the front-chassis portion being secured to front wheels, the mid-chassis portion forming an occupant cabin and including a seat support frame, and the rear-chassis portion secured to rear wheels, the rear-chassis portion being longitudinally rearward of the mid-chassis portion; the rear chassis portion being primarily accessible from the mid-chassis portion during installation of the engine-transmission assembly and having an engine-transmission mounting area; and a driver seat removably attached to the mid-chassis portion, wherein the driver seat is removed to access the engine-transmission mounting area. 14. The vehicle of claim 13 , further comprising a passenger seat removably attached to the mid-chassis portion, the passenger seat being removed to access the engine-transmission mounting area.
