A military vehicle includes a passenger capsule having a front end and a rear end, a front module coupled to the front end, and a rear module coupled to the rear end. The front module includes a front axle, a front differential, an engine, and a transmission. The front differential is coupled to the front axle. The front differential functions as a structural component of the front module. The front differential defines an engine mount. The engine is at least partially supported by the engine mount of the front differential. The transmission is coupled to the engine. The rear module includes a rear axle and a transaxle. The transaxle includes a housing, a transfercase disposed within the housing, and a rear differential disposed within the housing. The transfercase is coupled to the transmission, the front differential, and the rear differential. The rear differential is coupled to the rear axle.

The invention claimed is: 1. A military vehicle comprising: a front axle; a rear axle; a front differential coupled to the front axle; an engine; a transmission coupled to the engine; a transaxle coupled to the transmission, the front differential, and the rear axle, wherein the transaxle includes an internal mechanical disconnect that facilitates decoupling the transaxle from the front differential; and an actuator that is accessible from an exterior of the military vehicle to engage the internal mechanical disconnect. 2. The military vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the transaxle includes an input and an output on the same side of a housing thereof, wherein the input is coupled to the transmission and the output is coupled to the front differential. 3. The military vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the front differential defines an engine mount to which the engine is mounted. 4. The military vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the actuator is a mechanical air solenoid override. 5. The military vehicle of claim 1 , further comprising a passenger capsule, a front module coupled to the passenger capsule, and a rear module coupled to the passenger capsule. 6. The military vehicle of claim 5 , wherein the front differential is a front structural component of the front module, and wherein a housing of the transaxle is a rear structural component of the rear module. 7. The military vehicle of claim 6 , wherein the front differential defines an engine mount to which the engine is mounted. 8. The military vehicle of claim 6 , further comprising a suspension system, wherein a component of the suspension system is directly coupled to a housing of the transaxle. 9. The military vehicle of claim 8 , wherein the component includes at least one of an upper control arm, a lower control arm, a spring, or a damper. 10. The military vehicle of claim 5 , wherein the passenger capsule has a monocoque hull structure that does not include frame rails extending along a bottom thereof. 11. A military vehicle comprising: a passenger capsule having a front end and a rear end; and a front module coupled to the front end of the passenger capsule, the front module including: a front axle; a front differential coupled to the front axle, the front differential functioning as a structural component of the front module, the front differential defining an engine mount; and an engine at least partially supported by the engine mount of the front differential. 12. The military vehicle of claim 11 , wherein the passenger capsule has a monocoque hull structure that does not include frame rails extending along a bottom thereof. 13. The military vehicle of claim 11 , further comprising a rear module coupled to the rear end of the passenger capsule, the rear module including: a rear axle; and a transaxle coupled to the engine, the rear axle, and the front differential, the transaxle including a housing. 14. The military vehicle of claim 13 , further comprising a suspension system, wherein the housing of the transaxle functions as a structural component of the rear module, and wherein a component of the suspension system is directly coupled to the housing of the transaxle. 15. The military vehicle of claim 13 , wherein the transaxle includes: a transfercase disposed within the housing; and a rear differential disposed within the housing; wherein the transfercase is coupled to the engine, the front differential, and the rear differential; and wherein the rear differential is coupled to the rear axle. 16. The military vehicle of claim 13 , wherein the transaxle includes an input and an output on the same side of the housing, wherein the input is coupled to the engine and the output is coupled to the front differential. 17. A military vehicle comprising: a passenger capsule having a front end and a rear end; a front module coupled to the front end of the passenger capsule, the front module including: a front axle; a front differential coupled to the front axle, the front differential functioning as a structural component of the front module, the front differential defining an engine mount; an engine at least partially supported by the engine mount of the front differential; and a transmission coupled to the engine; and a rear module coupled to the rear end of the passenger capsule, the rear module including: a rear axle; and a transaxle including: a housing; a transfercase disposed within the housing; and a rear differential disposed within the housing; wherein the transfercase is coupled to the transmission, the front differential, and the rear differential; and wherein the rear differential is coupled to the rear axle. 18. The military vehicle of claim 17 , further comprising a suspension system, wherein the housing of the transaxle functions as a structural component of the rear module, and wherein a component of the suspension system is directly coupled to the housing of the transaxle.
