What is claimed is: 1. A multi-material three-dimensional printing apparatus comprising: two or more print stations, wherein each of the two or more print stations comprises a substrate, one or more carrier devices, a dispensing device, a compaction device, a printing device, a fixing device, and a fluidized materials removal device, the fluidized materials removal device configured to remove fluidized material that is deposited and compacted onto the substrate but is not fixed in place by the fixing device; one or more transfer devices in communication with the two or more print stations via the one or more carrier devices; an assembly apparatus in communication with the two or more print stations via the one or more transfer devices; and a computing and controlling device configured to control the operations of the two or more print stations, the assembly apparatus and the one or more transfer devices, wherein: the substrate is positioned on the one or more carrier device, the carrier device transports the substrate from a first position to a second position, and at least one of the one or more transfer devices comprises a pick-up assembly including one or more arms, the pick-up assembly including an attachment device, the attachment device configured to lift up a printed layer from the substrate at the second position and move the printed layer to the assembly apparatus. 2. The multi-material three-dimensional printing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the transfer device is configured to transfer the printed layer from the substrate onto at least one of a build substrate or onto a previously printed layer of a stack of printed layers previously affixed to the build substrate. 3. The multi-material three-dimensional printing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the attachment device comprises at least one of a vacuum device or an adhesive device configured to overcome a force holding the printed layer to the substrate. 4. The multi-material three-dimensional printing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the transfer device comprises a translation device configured to move the printed layer from the substrate to the assembly apparatus. 5. The multi-material three-dimensional printing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the fluidized materials removal device comprises at least one a vacuum device, a disruptive device, or an air knife. 6. The multi-material three-dimensional printing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the fixing device is configured to provide at least one radiant energy source selected from the group of IR radiation, UV radiation, and electron beam. 7. The multi-material three-dimensional printing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the printing device comprises an inkjet type print head with jetting nozzles spanning a width of the substrate. 8. The multi-material three-dimensional printing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the printing device comprises an inkjet type print head with jetting nozzles that span less than a width of the substrate. 9. The multi-material three-dimensional printing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the compaction device comprises a settling device configured to provide vibration and at least one of a compliant pressure cuff or a roller. 10. The multi-material three-dimensional printing apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the compaction device is configured to compact the fluidized material to a high density of at least 40% of a theoretical density of the fluidized material. 11. The multi-material three-dimensional printing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the assembly apparatus comprises a build substrate and position reference fiducials to facilitate accurate placement of each printed layer onto the build substrate. 12. A multi-material three-dimensional printing apparatus comprising: two or more print stations, wherein each of the two or more print stations comprises a continuous substrate, one or more carrier devices, a dispensing device, a compaction device, a printing device, a fixing device, and a fluidized materials removal device, the fluidized materials removal device configured to remove fluidized material that is deposited and compacted onto the substrate but is not fixed in place by the fixing device; one or more transfer devices in communication with the two or more print stations via the one or more carrier devices, the one or more transfer devices including a movable attachment device and one or more arms connected to the attachment device for moving the attachment device; an assembly apparatus in communication with the two or more print stations via the one or more transfer devices; and a computing and controlling device configured to control the operations of the two or more print stations, the assembly apparatus and the one or more transfer devices, wherein: the continuous substrate is positioned on the one or more carrier device, the carrier device transports the continuous substrate from a first position to a second position, and at least one of the one or more transfer devices comprises a pick-up assembly, the pick-up assembly including the movable attachment device, the movable attachment device configured to remove a printed layer from the continuous substrate at the second position. 13. The multi-material three-dimensional printing apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the transfer device is configured to transfer the printed layer from the continuous substrate onto at least one of a build substrate or onto a previously printed layer of a stack of printed layers previously affixed to the build substrate. 14. The multi-material three-dimensional printing apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the attachment device comprises at least one of a vacuum device or an adhesive device configured to overcome a force holding the printed layer to the continuous substrate. 15. The multi-material three-dimensional printing apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the transfer device comprises a translation device configured to move the printed layer from the continuous substrate to the assembly apparatus. 16. The multi-material three-dimensional printing apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the fluidized materials removal device comprises at least one of a vacuum device, a disruptive device, or an air knife.
