Official abstract text for this publication.
Mounting hardware is installed to a cryogenic storage device to accommodate an automation system for automated storage and retrieval. A guideplate at an upper surface of a cover of the cryogenic storage device is positioned such that the guideplate is aligned in a predefined relation to an access port at the upper surface. One or more mounting posts are affixed at a location as indicated by the guideplate. A vacuum is then pulled within the cover, and the mounting hardware is affixed to the at least one mounting post.

What is claimed is: 1. A method of installing mounting hardware to a cryogenic storage device; the method comprising: positioning a guideplate at an upper surface of a cover of the cryogenic storage device such that the guideplate is aligned in a predefined relation to an access port at the upper surface; affixing at least one mounting post at a location as indicated by the guideplate; pulling a vacuum within the cover; and affixing the mounting hardware to the at least one mounting post. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the guideplate includes at least one locating feature indicating a location at which to install the mounting hardware. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the guideplate includes at least one protrusion to be aligned with the at least one mounting post to be affixed. 4. The method of claim 1 , further including aligning an aperture of the guideplate with a drive shaft of the cryogenic storage device. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the guideplate includes a bracket that contacts a side of the access port at the upper surface. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the mounting hardware is configured for installation of a retrieval module of an automated cryogenic freezer. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the cryogenic storage device is a vacuum insulated space. 8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising positioning the mounting hardware at the mounting posts at locations as indicated by the guideplate. 9. The method of claim 1 , wherein affixing the at least one mounting post includes welding the at least one mounting post at the location as indicated by the guideplate. 10. A method of installing mounting hardware to a cryogenic storage device; the method comprising: positioning a guideplate at an upper surface of a cover of the cryogenic storage device such that the guideplate is aligned in a predefined relation to an access port at the upper surface; affixing at least one mounting post at a location as indicated by the guideplate; pulling a vacuum within the cover; and affixing the mounting hardware to the at least one mounting post; wherein the cover includes a lower surface with an internal chamber defined between the upper and lower surface and pulling the vacuum within the cover includes evacuating gas from between the upper and lower surface. 11. A method of installing mounting hardware to a cryogenic storage device; the method comprising: positioning a guideplate at an upper surface of a cover of the cryogenic storage device such that the guideplate is aligned in a predefined relation to an access port at the upper surface; affixing at least one mounting post at a location as indicated by the guideplate; pulling a vacuum within the cover; and affixing the mounting hardware to the at least one mounting post; wherein pulling the vacuum within the cover causes the at least one mounting post to move from a first orientation to a second orientation. 12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the mounting hardware includes at least one mounting plate and the second orientation is configured to affix the at least one mounting plate to the cover. 13. The method of claim 12 , further including attaching the at least one mounting plate to the guideplate. 14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the at least one mounting plate includes at least one removable insert. 15. A method of installing mounting hardware to a cryogenic storage device; the method comprising: positioning a guideplate at an upper surface of a cover of the cryogenic storage device such that the guideplate is aligned in a predefined relation to an access port at the upper surface; affixing at least one mounting post at a location as indicated by the guideplate; pulling a vacuum within the cover; and affixing the mounting hardware to the at least one mounting post; wherein the guideplate includes at least one locating hole configured for installing mounting features. 16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the mounting features include a location hole or a locating pin.
