Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A ventilation and lighting system having a fan, a grille having one or more lighting elements and a controller that coordinates operation of the fan and the one or more lighting elements from a remote location. The controller defines scene control configured to define one or more scenes, each of which defines a predefined light control and fan control. The light control can have predefined settings of color, duration, intensity, saturation, and/or correlated color temperature. The fan control can have predefined settings of duration and/or power.

What is claimed is: 1. A control system for an illuminated ventilation apparatus, comprising: a communications connection between the illuminated ventilation apparatus and a wall-mounted controller; one or more mobile devices communicatively connected to one of the illuminated ventilation apparatus and the wall-mounted controller; a plurality of switches operable to control at least one fan and at least one lighting element of the illuminated ventilation apparatus; a user interface of the one or more mobile devices configured to operably control the at least one fan and the at least one lighting element in synchronization with the plurality of switches; and the control system comprising scene control configured to execute one or more scenes each defining predefined light control and fan control, wherein the light control comprises predefined settings of one or more of color, duration, intensity, saturation, and correlated color temperature and wherein the fan control comprises predefined settings of one or more of duration and power. 2. The control system of claim 1 , wherein the control system executes the one or more scenes for a period of time. 3. The control system of claim 2 , wherein the one or more scenes are pre-programed. 4. The control system of claim 2 , wherein the one or more scenes are generated by a user. 5. The control system of claim 4 , wherein the user interface further comprises virtual buttons for adjusting characteristics of the at least one fan and the at least one lighting element to generate a scene. 6. A control system, comprising: a plurality of user interfaces comprising a plurality of virtual buttons; an illuminated ventilation apparatus operable in response to the one or more virtual buttons of the plurality of user interfaces; light control and fan control associated with respective first and second virtual buttons of the plurality of virtual buttons; and scene control associated with a third virtual button and operable to initiate adjustment of the light control and the fan control in coordination with one another; wherein the scene control is configured to define one or more scenes each defining predefined light control and fan control, wherein the light control comprises predefined settings of one or more of color, duration, intensity, saturation, and correlated color temperature and wherein the fan control comprises predefined settings of one or more of duration and power. 7. The control system of claim 6 , comprising: a memory module for storing light and fan control information describing one or more scenes. 8. The control system of claim 7 , comprising: one or more processors for processing user inputs to the virtual buttons and executing the one or more scenes. 9. The control system of claim 8 , wherein the light control information comprises one or more of color, duration, intensity, saturation, and correlated color temperature. 10. The control system of claim 9 , wherein the fan control information comprises one or more of duration and power. 11. A method for controlling a ventilation and lighting system, comprising: presenting one or more virtual buttons to a user; gathering user inputs from the one or more virtual buttons; developing one or more scenes in response to user inputs, wherein the scenes comprise predefined light control and fan control, wherein the light control comprises predefined settings of one or more of color, duration, intensity, saturation, and correlated color temperature and the fan control comprises predefined settings of one or more of duration and power; storing the one or more scenes in a memory module for execution by a processor; and adjusting a fan and one or more light emitting diodes (LEDs) to implement the one or more scenes in response to a user selection requesting execution by the processor of the one or more scenes. 12. The method of claim 11 , comprising: pre-programing one or more scenes in the memory module; and implementing the one or more pre-programmed scenes in response to the user selection. 13. The method of claim 12 , comprising: gathering user inputs from a wall-mounted controller; and adjusting the fan and the one or more LEDs in response to the wall-mounted controller. 14. The method of claim 13 , comprising: synchronizing adjustments initiated by the one or more virtual buttons and the wall-mounted controller.
