Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A system may include an inflatable assembly having a plurality of members. The system may also include a plurality of sensors disposed at a plurality of positions inside or around the inflatable assembly, such that the plurality of sensors may acquire data related to a shape of the inflatable assembly. The system also includes one or more valves, each configured to direct a fluid into a corresponding member of the plurality of members of the inflatable assembly. The system also includes a processor that adjusts positions of the one or more valves to cause the fluid to be directed into the corresponding member of the plurality of members of the inflatable assembly based on the data and a desired shape of the inflatable assembly.

The invention claimed is: 1. An inflatable assembly of a park attraction, the inflatable assembly comprising: at least one inflatable portion; an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) coupled to and configured to maneuver the at least one inflatable portion; one or more valves, wherein the one or more valves are controllable and configured to direct a fluid to flow into the at least one inflatable portion to provide a lift force on the inflatable assembly; and a processor configured to perform operations comprising: receiving a first request indicative of a desired shape for the at least one inflatable portion; determining one or more positions of the one or more valves to cause the at least one inflatable portion to achieve the desired shape; sending a first set of commands to a mechanical system configured to control the one or more positions of the one or more valves, wherein the first set of commands is configured to cause the mechanical system to adjust the one or more valves to the one or more positions, thereby causing at least a portion of the fluid to flow into the at least one inflatable portion; receiving a second request indicative of a desired motion of the at least one inflatable portion; determining a second set of commands configured to cause the UAV to move the at least one inflatable portion according to the desired motion; and sending the second set of commands to the UAV, wherein the second set of commands is configured to cause the UAV to adjust a flight path of the UAV based on the desired motion of the at least one inflatable portion. 2. The inflatable assembly of claim 1 , comprising a fan configured to pull ambient air into the at least one inflatable portion. 3. The inflatable assembly of claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to: receive an additional input indicative of an additional desired motion of the inflatable assembly; and determining a second set of commands configured to cause the UAV to move the at least one inflatable portion according to the additional desired motion; and sending the second set of commands to the UAV to cause the UAV to adjust the flight path of the UAV based on the additional desired motion. 4. The inflatable assembly of claim 3 , wherein the processor is configured to: receive image data regarding a configuration of the inflatable assembly from one or more sensors; and adjust the first set of commands or the second set of commands based on the desired motion and the image data. 5. The inflatable assembly of claim 1 , comprising a fan configured to direct a motion of the inflatable assembly. 6. The inflatable assembly of claim 1 , wherein the at least one inflatable portion comprises a first inflatable portion configured to fill with a first fluid and a second inflatable portion configured to fill with a second fluid having a lower density than the first fluid. 7. The inflatable assembly of claim 6 , wherein the second fluid comprises a helium gas. 8. A system, comprising: an inflatable assembly comprising a plurality of members; at least one unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) coupled with and configured to maneuver at least one member of the plurality of members of the inflatable assembly; one or more valves configured to control a flow of a fluid into the at least one member of the plurality of members of the inflatable assembly; and a processor configured to perform operations comprising: receiving a first request indicative of a desired shape for the at least one member; determining one or more positions of the one or more valves to cause the at least one member of the plurality of members of the inflatable assembly to achieve the desired shape; sending a first set of commands to a mechanical system configured to control the one or more positions of the one or more valves, wherein the first set of commands is configured to cause the mechanical system to adjust the one or more valves to the one or more positions, thereby causing the flow of at least a portion of the fluid into the at least one member of the plurality of members of the inflatable assembly; receiving a second request indicative of a desired motion of the at least one member of the plurality of members of the inflatable assembly; determining a second set of commands configured to cause the at least one UAV to move the at least one member of the plurality of members of the inflatable assembly according to the desired motion; and sending the second set of commands to the at least one UAV, wherein the second set of commands is configured to cause the at least one UAV to adjust a flight path of the at least one UAV based on the desired motion of the at least one member of the plurality of members of the inflatable assembly. 9. The system of claim 8 , comprising a motor configured to pump the fluid into the at least one member of the plurality of members of the inflatable assembly via the one or more valves. 10. The system of claim 8 , comprising a fluid supply configured to provide the fluid into the at least one member of the plurality of members of the inflatable assembly. 11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the fluid supply is configured to couple to the at least one UAV. 12. The system of claim 8 , comprising a fan configured to pull ambient air into one or more members of the plurality of members of the inflatable assembly. 13. The system of claim 12 , wherein the at least one member of the plurality of members of the inflatable assembly comprises a first portion and a second portion, wherein the first portion is configured to fill with the fluid and the second portion is configured to fill with the ambient air, and wherein the ambient air has a higher density than the fluid. 14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the processor is configured to: receive an additional request indicative of updated desired motion for the plurality of members of the inflatable assembly; determine an updated flight pattern for the at least one UAV based on the additional request; and determine a third set of commands to send to the mechanical system or the at least one UAV based on the updated desired motion. 15. The system of claim 8 , wherein the fluid comprises a helium gas. 16. A method for controlling a motion of an inflatable assembly, the method comprising: receiving, via at least one processor, a request indicative of a desired motion of the inflatable assembly; receiving, via the at least one processor, data related to a configuration of the inflatable assembly, wherein the data is received from one or more sensors; generating, via the at least one processor, a flight pattern for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) coupled to the inflatable assembly based on the desired motion and the configuration; determining, via the at least one processor, a set of commands configured to cause the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to move the inflatable assembly according to the flight pattern; and sending, via the at least one processor, the set of commands to the UAV, wherein the set of commands is configured to cause the UAV to adjust a flight path of the UAV to match the flight pattern, wherein the UAV is configured to maneuver the inflatable assembly to achieve the desired motion. 17.
