Exemplary coating devices and exemplary coating methods for coating components with a coating agent, e.g., for painting motor vehicle body components with a paint, are disclosed. An exemplary coating device comprises an application device that applies the coating agent. The application device may include a paint head that discharges the coating agent out of at least one coating agent nozzle.

The invention claimed is: 1. A coating device for coating motor vehicle body parts, the coating device comprising: a multi-axis robot configured with a multi-axis robot hand axis; a coating agent supply having a coating agent in the form of a liquid paint; a plurality of print heads configured to apply the paint to one or more of the motor vehicle body parts, the plurality of print heads mounted on the multi-axis robot about the multi-axis robot hand axis, the plurality of print heads configured to swivel relative to each other, respectively; a plurality of coating agent nozzles on each of the plurality of print heads, the plurality of coating agent nozzles of at least one print head of the plurality of print heads being connected to the coating agent supply with at least one coating agent supply line; a painting cabin configured for coating the motor vehicle body parts with the paint therewithin, the plurality of print heads being arranged in the painting cabin and being configured to discharge the paint from the plurality of coating agent nozzles; an air filter configured to filter overspray of the paint from the cabin air; and an air extractor in fluid communication with the painting cabin and the air filter, the air filter being directly fluidly coupled in series between the painting cabin and the air extractor, the air extractor configured to extract cabin air through the air filter and out of the painting cabin in a downward direction through the air filter. 2. The coating device according to claim 1 , wherein the air filter is configured as a filter ceiling and is arranged on the base of the painting cabin. 3. The coating device according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of coating agent nozzles of the at least one print head of the plurality of print heads are arranged on the at least one print head of the plurality of print heads in at least one row. 4. The coating device according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of coating agent nozzles of the at least one print head of the plurality of print heads is connected to a single coating agent supply line supplying the coating agent. 5. The coating device according to claim 1 , wherein the paint contains solid paint components, the solid paint components including pigments and metallic flakes, and the plurality of coating agent nozzles of the at least one print head of the plurality of print heads are configured to accommodate the paint with the solid paint components. 6. The coating device according to claim 4 , wherein the coating agent supply line is supplied by a color changer. 7. The coating device according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one print head of the plurality of print heads has coating agent nozzles of different sizes. 8. The coating device according to claim 1 , further comprising: a robot controller configured to receive input from a sensor detecting a guide path on the surface of one of the motor vehicle body parts, the robot controller configured to direct the multi-axis robot to move the plurality of print heads as a function of the guide path. 9. The coating device according to claim 8 , wherein the robot controller is configured to receive input from the sensor detecting a previously applied coating agent path as the guide path. 10. The coating device according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of coating agent nozzles of the at least one print head of the plurality of print heads is arranged in series across the at least one print head of the plurality of print heads, and outer coating agent nozzles emit less coating agent than inner coating agent nozzles. 11. The coating device according to claim 1 , wherein an input side of the at least one print head of the plurality of print heads is connected to a color mixer which mixes several components and supplies the mixed components to the at least one print head of the plurality of print heads. 12. The coating device according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of coating agent nozzles are differently sized, the plurality of coating agent nozzles being arranged to provide a coating edge with relatively smaller nozzles. 13. The coating device according to claim 1 , wherein the paint includes at least one of pigments and metallic flakes. 14. The coating device according to claim 1 , further comprising a plenum from which air is introduced downwards into the painting cabin.
