Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An air cleaner assembly including a tray including two cleat receptacles spaced apart from one another at a back side of the assembly and a cover including two cleats at the back side, each of the two cleats adapted to seat within one of the two cleat receptacles. The assembly further includes a mounting bracket coupled to the tray, between the two cleat receptacles. The mounting bracket includes a guide rib extending outward from the mounting bracket, toward the cover.

The invention claimed is: 1. An air cleaner assembly, comprising: a tray including two cleat receptacles spaced apart from one another at a back side of the air cleaner assembly; a cover including two cleats at the back side, each of the two cleats adapted to seat within one of the two cleat receptacles; and a mounting bracket coupled to the tray, between the two cleat receptacles, and including at least one guide rib extending outward from the mounting bracket, toward the cover; wherein the at least one guide rib includes a first planar surface extending in a forward direction from the mounting bracket and over the tray, a distance above the tray, an angled surface extending vertically upward at an angle from the first planar surface, and a second planar surface extending vertically upward from the angled surface. 2. The air cleaner assembly of claim 1 , wherein the cover further includes an alignment projection arranged at the back side, between the two cleat receptacles and wherein the at least one guide rib extends outward toward the cover, at a vertical position above the alignment projection when the air cleaner assembly is in a fully seated position where the two cleats are seated within the two cleat receptacles. 3. The air cleaner assembly of claim 1 , wherein the mounting bracket includes an inner surface facing an outer surface of the cover, the inner surface arranged opposite the outer surface of the cover and wherein the at least one guide rib extends outward from the inner surface of the mounting bracket, toward the outer surface of the cover. 4. The air cleaner assembly of claim 1 , wherein the mounting bracket includes a body including a first end directly coupled to the tray, between the two cleat receptacles, and a second end adapted to couple to a frame of a vehicle, where the second end extends above a top of the cover. 5. The air cleaner assembly of claim 4 , wherein the first planar surface is directly coupled to the body of the mounting bracket at a first location along the body, between the first end and second end, and wherein the second planar surface is directly coupled to the body of the mounting bracket, at a second location along the body, between the first end and second end, where the second location is spaced away from the first location and positioned closer to the second end than the first location. 6. The air cleaner assembly of claim 1 , wherein the at least one guide rib includes three separate guide ribs spaced apart from one another across a width of a body of the mounting bracket. 7. The air cleaner assembly of claim 1 , wherein the mounting bracket includes a body including a first end directly coupled to the tray, between the two cleat receptacles, and a second end adapted to couple to a frame of a vehicle, where the second end extends above a top of the cover and the at least one guide rib extends outward from an inner surface of the body of the mounting bracket at a location a distance away from the first end. 8. The air cleaner assembly of claim 7 , wherein the body of the mounting bracket, from the first end to the second end, curves inward from an outer surface of the tray and toward a centerline of the air cleaner assembly. 9. The air cleaner assembly of claim 8 , wherein the first end is directly coupled to a mounting boss of the tray that is arranged outward of the two cleat receptacles relative to the centerline via a fastener. 10. The air cleaner assembly of claim 1 , wherein a width of the mounting bracket spans a distance between the two cleat receptacles and wherein the at least one guide rib is arranged on an inner surface of the mounting bracket, at a mid-point of the width of the mounting bracket. 11. The air cleaner assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a guide feature arranged at a front side of the air cleaner assembly, the guide feature including a first guiding member on the cover and a second guiding member on the tray, the first guiding member and second guiding member adapted to continuously contact one another and guide the cover rearward, from an unseated position to a fully seated position where each of the two cleats are fully seated within a corresponding one of the two cleat receptacles. 12. The air cleaner assembly of claim 11 , further comprising one or more clamps attached to a front side of the cover and adapted to be removably coupled to the tray, wherein the first and second guiding members are arranged adjacent to the one or more clamps, and wherein the one or more clamps are adapted to couple to the tray only after the air cleaner assembly is in the fully seated position. 13. The air cleaner assembly of claim 11 , wherein each of the two cleat receptacles includes a cavity within an outer housing, where an upper wall of the cavity includes a chamfered, outer surface and wherein each of the two cleats includes an upward extending fin adapted to slide along the outer surface in transition between the unseated position and fully seated position and mate with the inner surface in the fully seated position. 14. An air cleaner assembly, comprising: an upper housing including two cleats extending outward from a body of the upper housing and spaced apart from one another at a back side of the air cleaner assembly and an alignment projection extending outward from the body, between the two cleats; a lower housing including two cleat receptacles extending upward from a body of the lower housing and arranged at the back side, each of the two cleats adapted to seat within a corresponding one of the two cleat receptacles in a seated position of the air cleaner assembly; and a mounting bracket coupled to the lower housing, between the two cleat receptacles, and including at least one guide rib extending outward from an inner surface of the mounting bracket, toward the upper housing, at a vertical position that is above a top surface of the two cleat receptacles; wherein in the seated position, a planar surface arranged around a perimeter of the upper housing is in face-sharing contact with a planar surface arranged around a perimeter of the lower housing and an upwardly extending fin arranged at a distal end of each of the two cleats is positioned within and in face-sharing contact with an upper, inner surface of the corresponding one of the two cleat receptacles. 15. The air cleaner assembly of claim 14 , wherein the mounting bracket includes a first end directly coupled to the lower housing, between the two cleat receptacles, and a second end adapted to couple to a frame of a vehicle, where the second end extends above a top of the upper housing and the at least one guide rib extends outward from the inner surface at a location a distance away from the first end and wherein the mounting bracket curves inward, from the first end to the second end, towards a center of the air cleaner assembly arranged between the back side and a front side of the air cleaner assembly. 16. An air cleaner assembly, comprising: a lower housing including two cleat receptacles spaced apart from one another at a back side of the air cleaner assembly and two ramped flanges, each having two differently angled ramp surfaces, spaced apart from one another at a front side of the air cleaner assembly; an upper housing including two cleats spaced apart from one another at the back side and two mating flanges spaced apart from one another at the front side, each of the two mating flanges adapted to slide along a respective one of the two ramped flanges to guide the upper housing rearward into a seated position where a corresponding one of the two cleats is seated withi
