A safety valve arrangement and method, having an upstream block valve, a downstream block valve, and a pressure monitored galley between the upstream valve and the downstream valve.

First claim

Opening claim text (preview).

The invention claimed is: 1. A teat dip applicator valve assembly comprising: a teat dip fluid conduit defining a flow path having a first end and a second end; a first valve at the first end of the flow path and having an open position and a closed position; a second valve at the second end of the flow path and having an open position and a closed position; a pressurized fluid source in fluid communication with the flow path when the first valve is in the closed position and the second valve is in the closed position; and a pressure monitor in communication with the flow path to determine fluid pressure in the flow path. 2. The teat dip applicator valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the pressure monitor is set to react to a predetermined fluid pressure. 3. The teat dip applicator valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the pressure monitor generates data corresponding to fluid pressure in the flow path, and the valve assembly further comprises: a controller that compares the data to a predetermined flow channel pressure range and generates a signal if the data comparison indicates that the data is outside of the predetermined range. 4. The teat dip applicator valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first valve is a two-position, three-way valve. 5. The teat dip applicator valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the second valve is a two-position, three-way valve. 6. The teat dip applicator valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first valve is a shuttle valve. 7. The teat dip applicator valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the second valve is a shuttle valve. 8. The teat dip applicator valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the pressurized fluid source communicates pressurized gas to the flow channel when the first valve is in the closed position and the second valve is in the closed position. 9. The teat dip applicator valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the flow channel is open when the first valve is in the open position and the second valve is in the open position. 10. The teat dip applicator valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the flow channel receives fluid through the first valve and emits fluid through the second valve. 11. The teat dip applicator valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first valve is an upstream valve. 12. The teat dip applicator valve assembly of claim 1 , wherein the second valve is a downstream valve. 13. The teat dip applicator valve assembly of claim 1 , and further comprising: a control valve upstream from the first valve, and the control valve has an open position and a closed position. 14. A teat dip applicator safety valve assembly comprising: a pre-dip safety valve having: a pre-dip upstream valve having a pre-dip fluid inlet and an outlet, and having an open position and a closed position; a pre-dip fluid galley in communication with the pre-dip upstream valve outlet, and having an open position and a closed position; a pre-dip downstream valve having an inlet in communication with the galley and a pre-dip outlet, and having an open position and a closed position; a post-dip safety valve having: a post-dip upstream valve having a post-dip fluid inlet and an outlet, and having an open position and a closed position; a post-dip fluid galley in communication with the post-dip upstream valve outlet, and having an open position and a closed position; a post-dip downstream valve having a post-dip inlet in communication with the post-dip galley, and having an open position and a closed position; a pre-dip inlet in communication with the pre-dip outlet of the pre-dip downstream valve; and a common outlet in communication with the post-dip inlet when the post-dip downstream valve is in the closed position and the pre-dip inlet when the post-dip downstream valve is in the open position. 15. The teat dip applicator safety valve assembly of claim 14 , and further comprising: a pressure valve having an open position in communication with the pre-dip fluid galley and a source of pressurized gas, and a closed position to close the pre-dip galley from the source of pressurized gas. 16. The teat dip applicator safety valve assembly of claim 14 , and further comprising: a pressure valve having an open position in communication with the pre-dip fluid galley and a source of pressurized gas, and a closed position to close the pre-dip galley from the source of pressurized gas; and a pressure sensor in communication with the pre-dip galley to monitor pressure in the pre-dip galley. 17. The teat dip applicator safety valve assembly of claim 14 , and further comprising: a pressure valve having an open position in communication with the post-dip fluid galley and a source of pressurized gas, and a closed position to close the post-dip galley from the source of pressurized gas. 18. The teat dip applicator safety valve assembly of claim 14 , and further comprising: a pressure valve having an open position in communication with the post-dip fluid galley and a source of pressurized gas, and a closed position to close the post-dip galley from the source of pressurized gas; and a pressure sensor in communication with the post-dip galley to monitor pressure in the post-dip galley. 19. The teat dip applicator safety valve assembly of claim 14 , and further comprising: a pressure valve having an open position in communication with the pre-dip fluid galley and a source of pressurized gas, and a closed position to close the pre-dip galley from the source of pressurized gas; a pressure sensor in communication with the pre-dip galley to monitor pressure in the pre-dip galley; a pressure valve having an open position in communication with the post-dip fluid galley and a source of pressurized gas, and a closed position to close the post-dip galley from the source of pressurized gas; and a pressure sensor in communication with the post-dip galley to monitor pressure in the post-dip galley. 20. The teat dip applicator safety valve assembly of claim 14 , and further comprising: a pre-dip conduit in communication between the pre-dip downstream valve outlet and the post-dip downstream valve pre-dip inlet.
