A medical imaging system includes an endoscope and a processor. The endoscope includes a camera that outputs a video signal with a plurality of portions. The processor receives the video signal and processes a first portion of the plurality of portions according to a first processing mode to generate a first processed video signal, processes a second portion of the plurality of portions of the sensor signal according to a second processing mode to generate a second processed video signal, and generates an output video signal using the first processed video signal and the second processed video signal.

What is claimed is: 1. A medical imaging system comprising: an endoscope comprising a camera that outputs a single sensor video signal provided by an image sensor, the sensor video signal comprising a plurality of portions; and a processor that receives the sensor video signal and processes a first portion of the plurality of portions of the sensor video signal according to a first processing mode to generate a first processed video signal, processes a second portion of the plurality of portions of the sensor video signal according to a second processing mode to generate a second processed video signal, and generates an output video signal using the first processed video signal and the second processed video signal for simultaneous display of the two sequentially processed video signals from the single sensor video signal. 2. The medical imaging system of claim 1 , wherein the first processing mode includes white light imaging comprising natural colors. 3. The medical imaging system of claim 2 , wherein the second processing mode includes false color imaging comprising color enhancement for at least one of red, green, and blue color components. 4. The medical imaging system of claim 2 , wherein the second processing mode includes edge enhancement imaging that recognizes certain tissue structures based on a reaction to light. 5. The medical imaging system of claim 3 , wherein the processor alternately updates the output video signal using a portion of the first processed video signal followed by a portion of the second processed video signal. 6. The medical imaging system of claim 4 , wherein the processor alternately updates the output video signal using a portion of the first processed video signal followed by a portion of the second processed video signal. 7. The medical imaging system of claim 1 further comprising an interface in communication with the processor for user input to select the first processing mode and the second processing mode. 8. The medical imaging system of claim 1 , further comprising a display that receives the output video signal and displays the first processed video signal in a first display area and the second processed video in a second display area. 9. The medical imaging system of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of portions includes a plurality of images formed by frames of the video signal. 10. The medical imaging system of claim 1 , wherein the first processing mode filters the first portion of the video signal based on a first bandwidth range and the second processing mode filters the second portion of the video signal based on a second bandwidth range. 11. The medical imaging system of claim 10 , wherein the first bandwidth range and the second bandwidth range are different. 12. The medical imaging system of claim 10 , wherein the first bandwidth range includes a partial bandwidth range of the second bandwidth range. 13. The medical imaging system of claim 12 , wherein the partial bandwidth range includes filtering to reduce a red component of the video signal. 14. The medical imaging system of claim 12 , wherein the partial bandwidth range includes filtering to reduce a green component of the video signal. 15. The medical imaging system of claim 12 , wherein the partial bandwidth range includes filtering to reduce a blue component of the video signal. 16. A medical imaging system comprising: an endoscope comprising an image sensor that generates a sensor video signal comprising a plurality of portions; and a processor that receives the sensor video signal and processes a first portion of the plurality of portions according to a first processing mode to generate a first processed video signal, processes a second portion of the plurality of portions according to a second processing mode to generate a second processed video signal, and generates an output video signal using the first processed video signal and the second processed video signal, wherein the processor alternately updates the output video signal using a portion of the first processed video signal and a portion of the second processed video signal. 17. The medical imaging system of claim 16 , wherein the first processing mode includes white light imaging comprising natural colors. 18. The medical imaging system of claim 17 , wherein the second processing mode includes false color imaging comprising color enhancement for at least one of red, green, and blue color components. 19. The medical imaging system of claim 16 , further comprising a display that receives the output video signal and displays the first processed video signal in a first display area and the second processed video in a second display area. 20. The medical imaging system of claim 16 , wherein the plurality of portions includes a plurality of images formed by frames of the video signal.
