A method of manufacturing a poly(ether-carbonate) polyol comprises a polymerization stage that includes polymerizing carbon dioxide and at least one alkylene oxide, with a starter, in the presence of a double metal cyanide polymerization catalyst and a catalyst promoter that is devoid of halide anions and cyanide. The catalyst promoter is separate from the double metal cyanide polymerization catalyst.

The invention claimed is: 1. A method of manufacturing a poly(ether-carbonate) polyol, comprising: a polymerization stage that includes polymerizing carbon dioxide and at least one alkylene oxide, with a starter, in the presence of a double metal cyanide polymerization catalyst and a catalyst promoter that is devoid of halide anions and cyanide, the catalyst promoter being separate from the double metal cyanide polymerization catalyst, wherein the catalyst promoter is selected from the group consisting of: trialkyl aluminum compounds; aluminum alkoxides; aluminum aryloxides; aluminum amides; aluminum acetylacetonate; aluminum t-butylacetylacetonate; and alkylaluminum oxides and alkoxides. 2. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the starter includes at least one selected from a mono-alcohol initiator and a poly-alcohol initiator. 3. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein in the presence of the double metal cyanide catalyst complex and the catalyst promoter, the carbon dioxide is added intermittently or continuously during the polymerization stage to a reactor and each alkylene oxide of the at least one alkylene oxide is added intermittently or continuously during the polymerization stage to the reactor. 4. The method as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising a preliminary stage, prior to the polymerization stage, in which the double metal cyanide catalyst complex, the catalyst promoter, and the starter form a starting reaction mixture. 5. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the carbon dioxide and the at least one alkylene oxide are polymerized with the starter to form the poly(ether-carbonate) polyol. 6. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the poly(ether-carbonate) polyol is manufactured in a batch or semi-batch process. 7. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the poly(ether-carbonate) polyol is manufactured in a continuous process.
