Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for remote monitoring. In some example implementations, there is provided a method. The method may include receiving, at a remote monitor, a notification message representative of an event detected, by a server, from analyte sensor data obtained from a receiver monitoring an analyte state of a host; presenting, at the remote monitor, the notification message to activate the remote monitor, wherein the remote monitor is configured by the server to receive the notification message to augment the receiver monitoring of the analyte state of the host; accessing, by the remote monitor, the server, in response to the presenting of the notification message; and receiving, in response to the accessing, information including at least the analyte sensor data. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also disclosed.

What is claimed is: 1. A method for enabling remote monitoring of an analyte concentration state of a host, the method comprising: establishing one or more rules for sharing information indicative of an analyte concentration state of a host with a mobile remote monitoring apparatus authorized by a mobile host monitoring apparatus coupled to a transcutaneous analyte sensor monitoring the analyte concentration state of the host, the one or more rules established according to a set of rule settings established at the mobile host monitoring apparatus, wherein the information is derived at least in part based on analyte sensor data derived from the transcutaneous analyte sensor; triggering a message containing the information indicative of the analyte concentration state of the host to be sent to the mobile remote monitoring apparatus, wherein the message is triggered based on the one or more rules, and wherein at least one of the rules of the established one or more rules is modifiable based on a second set of rule settings at the mobile remote monitoring apparatus; and wherein the information is provided for display at the mobile remote monitoring apparatus according to the one or more rules, such that the information is displayed if the information meets the one or more rules, wherein the one or more rules comprises the one or more rules as modified based on the second set of rule settings at the mobile remote monitoring apparatus when a modification is detected at the remote monitoring apparatus. 2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing a notification message through at least a first wireless connection between the mobile remote monitoring apparatus and a notification service at a server. 3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising establishing a connection between the mobile remote monitoring apparatus and the server to enable receiving of the information at the mobile remote monitoring apparatus. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the providing for display further comprises displaying the information within a remote monitoring application at the mobile remote monitoring apparatus. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the providing for display further comprises presenting the information as a momentary message on a display at the mobile remote monitoring apparatus. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the information indicative of the analyte concentration state of the host includes at least one of an analyte concentration state of the host or an indication of an analyte concentration of the host as compared to one or more thresholds. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the mobile remote monitoring apparatus or the mobile host monitoring apparatus comprises one or more of a mobile station, a wireless terminal, a tablet, a smart phone, a multi-mode wireless device, and a computer. 8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising registering, at a server, at least one of the mobile remote monitoring apparatus, the mobile host monitoring apparatus, or the transcutaneous analyte sensor. 9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the information indicative of the analyte concentration state of the host comprises an indication of a critical event to be provided for display as a momentary message on a display at the mobile remote monitoring apparatus. 10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the authorization by the mobile host monitoring apparatus is generated based on an invitation triggered by the mobile host monitoring apparatus upon input of an identifier for a remote monitoring user associated with the mobile host monitoring apparatus into the mobile host monitoring apparatus. 11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the set of rule settings established at the mobile host monitoring apparatus comprises one or more thresholds associated with the analyte concentration state of the host. 12. The method of claim 1 , wherein the set of rule settings established at the mobile host monitoring apparatus comprises indication of types of alarms and/or notifications to be provided. 13. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second set of rule settings comprises a type of alarm and/or notification to be provided for display at the remote monitoring apparatus. 14. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second set of rule settings comprises one or more thresholds associated with the analyte concentration state of the host. 15. The method of claim 1 , wherein triggering the message comprises: designating, at the mobile host monitoring apparatus, a mobile remote monitoring apparatus for receiving an invitation for remotely monitoring an analyte concentration state of the host. 16. The method of claim 1 , wherein triggering the message comprises: receiving an indication of receipt of analyte sensor data associated with the host from the transcutaneous analyte sensor. 17. The method of claim 1 , wherein triggering the message comprises: receiving an indication of at least one of the established one or more rules being met based on analyte sensor data being received at the mobile host monitoring apparatus from the transcutaneous analyte sensor. 18. A system for enabling remote monitoring of an analyte state of a host comprising: a transcutaneous analyte sensor configured to monitor an analyte concentration state of the host; and a mobile communication application for execution on a mobile host monitoring apparatus communicably coupled to the transcutaneous analyte sensor, the mobile communication application comprising instructions that when executed by at least one processor of the mobile host monitoring apparatus are configured to cause the processor to perform: receiving, at the mobile host monitoring application, a request to share information indicative of the analyte concentration of the host derived from analyte data received from the transcutaneous analyte sensor with a mobile remote monitoring apparatus, wherein in response to the request the mobile remote monitoring apparatus is authorized to access the information indicative of the analyte concentration of the host according to one or more rules initially established based on a set of rule settings at the mobile host monitoring application; providing information indicative of the analyte concentration of the host to be shared with the mobile remote monitoring apparatus, wherein the information indicative of the analyte concentration of the host is provided to the mobile remote monitoring apparatus based on the one or more rules initially established based on the set of rule settings at the mobile remote monitoring apparatus, wherein at least one of the one or more rules is modifiable based on one or more settings at the mobile remote monitoring apparatus; and wherein the information is provided for display at the mobile remote monitoring apparatus according to the one or more rules, such that the information is displayed if the information meets the one or more rules, wherein the one or more rules comprises the one or more rules as modified based on the second set of rule settings at the mobile remote monitoring apparatus when a modification is detected at the remote monitoring apparatus. 19. The system of claim 18 , wherein the instructions are further configured to cause the processor to perform providing a notification message through at least a first wireless connection between the mobile remote monitoring apparatus and a notification service at a server. 20. The system of claim 19 , wherein the server is configured to establish a connection between the mobile remote mon
