Apparatus and methods to manage recording of streaming packetized content (such as for example live IP packetized content) for access, retrieval and delivering thereof to one or more users. In one embodiment, the foregoing is accomplished via communication between a recording manager and a receiver/decoder device. The recording manager manages and schedules recording of content on behalf of the receiver/decoder device (and/or mobile devices) disposed at a user's premises. The recording manager runs one or more computer programs designed to receive requests to record packetized content from one or more consumer devices, and use metadata contained within the requests to cause a cloud storage entity or premises storage device to record the content at its scheduled date/time (either via the receiver/decoder device itself, or another network entity). In this manner, the recording manager provides digital video recording (DVR) functionality to devices that would be otherwise incapable of scheduling a recording and/or recording such content.

What is claimed is: 1. A computerized method of providing recorded digital content of a first computerized client device to a second computerized client device associated with a managed network, the computerized method comprising: receiving data representative of a first request to record a digital content element from the first computerized client device, wherein the first request is associated with a user identifier, the user identifier associated with an authorized wireless access point apparatus; causing storage of the digital content element at a storage location, the storage location comprising a virtual control boundary associated with the user identifier; receiving data representative of a second request for the digital content element from the second computerized client device in data communication with the authorized wireless access point apparatus; based on the receiving of the data representative of the second request: performing a first check indicating that a user of the second computerized client device is a subscriber of the managed network; performing a second check, the second check based at least on an association between the second computerized client device and the authorized wireless access point apparatus, and indicating that the second computerized client device is associated with a premises serviced via the managed network; and performing a third check to determine whether the user of the second computerized client device is entitled to view the digital content element; and enabling access subject to one or more restrictions to the digital content element at the storage location for the second computerized client device, wherein the access is based at least on the first and second checks, and the one or more restrictions are based at least on the third check. 2. The computerized method of claim 1 , wherein the receiving of the data representative of the first request to record the digital content element from the first computerized client device comprises receiving metadata associated with the digital content element. 3. The computerized method of claim 2 , further comprising associating, at least via at least a first data structure, the first computerized client device to the digital content element and the storage location based on the metadata associated with the digital content element. 4. The computerized method of claim 3 , wherein the causing the storage of the digital content element at the storage location comprises causing storing of the digital content element on a network storage space that is specifically allocated to the first computerized client device. 5. The computerized method of claim 4 , wherein the virtual control boundary includes the network storage space that is specifically allocated to the first computerized client device. 6. The computerized method of claim 5 , wherein the enabling of the access subject to the one or more restrictions comprises enabling only retrieval of the digital content element. 7. The computerized method of claim 2 , wherein the enabling of the access subject to the one or more restrictions comprises identifying the storage location of the digital content element based on the metadata associated with the digital content element. 8. The computerized method of claim 1 , wherein the causing the storage of the digital content element at the storage location further comprises: (i) allocating the storage location to the first computerized client device, and (ii) granting virtual possessory access to the first computerized client device. 9. The computerized method of claim 8 , wherein the enabling of the access subject to the one or more restrictions comprises enabling access which is more limited than the granted virtual possessory access to the first computerized client device. 10. Computer readable apparatus comprising a non-transitory storage medium, the non-transitory storage medium comprising at least one computer program, the at least one computer program comprising a plurality of instructions which are configured to, when executed by a processing apparatus of a computerized network apparatus, cause the computerized network apparatus to: receive, from a first computerized client device associated with a managed content distribution network, data representative of a first request to record a digital content element; cause storage of the digital content element at a first storage location of a multi-user partitioned cloud-based storage apparatus, wherein the digital content element is at least one of (i) useable at the first storage location, or (ii) transferable from the first storage location; receive, from a second computerized client device, data representative of a request to access the digital content element; based at least on the receipt of the data representative of request to access the digital content element, transfer the digital content element from the first storage location to a second storage location of the multi-user partitioned cloud-based storage apparatus, wherein the digital content element is unusable by the first computerized client device at the second storage location; and based at least on data indicating that the second computerized client device completed use of the digital content element, transfer the digital content element from the second storage location back to the first storage location. 11. The computer readable apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of instructions are further configured to, when executed by the processing apparatus, cause the computerized network apparatus to: receive, from one or more respective third computerized client devices, data representative of one or more respective second requests to record the digital content element; and based at least on a determination that the receipt of the data representative of the one or more respective second requests occurred within a prescribed time period of the receipt of the data representative of the first request, dismiss the one or more respective second requests to record the digital content element so as to at least result in a reduction of network latency associated with at least a portion of the managed content distribution network. 12. The computer readable apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of instructions are further configured to, when executed by the processing apparatus, cause the computerized network apparatus to: receive, from one or more respective third computerized client devices, data representative of one or more respective second requests to record the digital content element; and based at least on a determination that the receipt of the data representative of the one or more respective second requests occurred within a prescribed time period, cause a grant of a virtual possessory access right to the digital content element for the one or more second computerized client devices, the virtual possessory access right subject to one or more restrictions, the one or more restrictions comprising use of the transfer of the digital content element from the first storage location to the second storage location to ensure only a single copy of the digital content element is used at a time. 13. The computer readable apparatus of claim 10 , wherein use of the first and second storage locations of the multi-user partitioned cloud-based storage apparatus is configured to provide an increase in storage efficiency by a reduction of a number of copies of the digital content element in storage of the managed content distribution network. 14. The computer readable apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the multi-user partitioned cloud-based storage a
