Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A sheet storage apparatus and a printing apparatus include simplified mechanisms for supporting a sheet and for guiding the sheet. A sheet storage device that can store a sheet discharged from a discharge port of a printing apparatus includes multiple flappers provided below the discharge port and arranged in a width direction of the sheet, each flapper being rotatable between a first posture in which the sheet discharged from the discharge port is guided downward in a gravitational direction by using a first surface, and a second posture in which the sheet is supported by using a second surface being different from the first surface; and a connecting unit which connects the plurality of flappers to one another.

What is claimed is: 1. A sheet storage device capable of storing a sheet discharged from a discharge port of a printing apparatus, comprising: a flapper unit being rotatable between a first position and a second position; a leg unit configured to support the flapper unit; a support configured to support the leg unit and move the flapper unit relative to the printing apparatus; and a receiver having a first end portion and a second end portion, wherein the first end portion is supported by the support at a side below the flapper unit, the second end portion is supported by the support at a position higher than the first end portion, and the sheet is placed on the receiver, wherein in a case in which the flapper unit is positioned below the discharge port by the support and the flapper unit is at the first position, a front end of the sheet discharged from the discharge port reaches a side of the first end portion of the receiver along a first surface of the flapper unit, and in a case in which the flapper unit is at the second position, the front end of the sheet discharged from the discharge port is supported by a second surface different from the first surface of the flapper unit. 2. The sheet storage device according to claim 1 , wherein the flapper unit includes a plurality of flappers connected to each other in a sheet width direction, and a front end portion of each flapper of the plurality of flappers comes into contact with the printing apparatus due to a weight of the flapper when the flapper unit is in the first position. 3. The sheet storage device according to claim 2 , wherein the front end portion of each flapper of the plurality of flappers comes into contact with a guide surface when the flapper unit is in the first position, the guide surface being provided on the printing apparatus, located below the discharge port, and capable of guiding the sheet. 4. The sheet storage device according to claim 2 , wherein an intermediate portion between the first end portion and the second end portion of the receiver is held by a first rod and the receiver changes a shape to receive the sheet depending on a position of the first rod, and in a case in which the first rod is supported by the leg unit, the intermediate portion approaches a front end of the flapper unit at the second position. 5. The sheet storage device according to claim 2 , wherein the plurality of flappers are provided at least at two positions corresponding to two end portions in the width direction of the sheet. 6. The sheet storage device according to claim 1 , wherein the flapper unit includes a plurality of flappers, and each flapper of the plurality of flappers is independently rotatable within a predetermined range. 7. The sheet storage device according to claim 1 , wherein the flapper unit includes a plurality of flappers, and the plurality of flappers are connected at a position which is located near a front end portion of each flapper of the plurality of flappers and is different from a rotating center of the flapper. 8. The sheet storage device according to claim 1 , wherein the flapper unit includes a plurality of flappers connected to each other in a width direction, each flapper of the plurality of flappers includes: a concave portion configured to regulate the front end of the discharged sheet when the flapper unit is in the second position, and a guide member configured to guide the front end to the concave portion, the guide member is rotatably provided while being biased in a predetermined direction, and when the sheet storage device is installed at a position capable of storing the sheet discharged from the discharge port, a front end portion of the guide member is rotated against a biasing force and comes into contact with the printing apparatus. 9. The sheet storage device according to claim 1 , wherein the printing apparatus includes a holder configured to rotatably hold a roll sheet for supplying the sheet below the discharge port, and a rotating center of the flapper unit is below a rotating center of the roll sheet held by the holder. 10. The sheet storage device according to claim 9 , wherein the printing apparatus includes a second holder configured to rotatably hold a roll sheet below the holder, and the rotating center of the flapper unit is below a rotating center of the roll sheet held by the second holder. 11. The sheet storage device according to claim 1 , wherein the support includes a first holding section for holding the first end portion and a second holding section for holding the second end portion. 12. A printing apparatus comprising: holder configured to rotatably hold a roll sheet formed as a continuous sheet wound in a roll form; a printer engine configured to form images on a sheet supplied from the holder; a discharge port configured to discharge the sheet printed by the printer engine; and a sheet storage device configured to move below the discharge port and store the sheet discharged from the discharge port, wherein the sheet storage device includes: a flapper unit being rotatable between a first position and a second position; a leg unit configured to support the flapper unit; a support configured to support the leg unit and move the flapper unit relative to the printing apparatus; and a receiver having a first end portion and a second end portion, wherein the first end portion is supported by the support at a side below the flapper unit, the second end portion is supported by the support at a position higher than the first end portion, and the sheet is placed on the receiver, and wherein in a case in which the flapper unit is positioned below the discharge port by the support and the flapper unit is at the first position, a front end of the sheet discharged from the discharge port reaches a side of the first end portion of the receiver along a first surface of the flapper unit, and in a case in which the flapper unit is at the second position, the front end of the sheet discharged from the discharge port is supported by a second surface different from the first surface of the flapper unit. 13. The printing apparatus according to claim 12 , wherein the flapper unit includes a plurality of flappers connected to each other in a sheet width direction, and a front end portion of each flapper of the plurality of flappers comes into contact with the printing apparatus due to a weight of the flapper when the flapper unit is in the first position. 14. The printing apparatus according to claim 13 , wherein the front end portion of each flapper of the plurality of flappers comes into contact with a guide surface when the flapper unit is in the first position, the guide surface being provided on the printing apparatus, located below the discharge port, and capable of guiding the sheet. 15.
