What is claimed is: 1. A method of providing a health coaching message to a user comprising: collecting electronic fitness data related to a fitness activity on a portable electronic device, the portable electronic device further including a microprocessor, a satellite positioning system receiver, a wireless communication transceiver, and a display, the electronic fitness data including global positioning satellite waypoints from the satellite positioning system receiver; receiving footwear electronic data related to the electronic fitness data; collecting second electronic fitness data related to a second fitness activity on the portable electronic device, the second electronic fitness data including global positioning satellite waypoints from the satellite positioning system receiver; receiving second footwear electronic data related to the second electronic fitness data; generating footwear electronic mileage data based on the electronic fitness data, second electronic fitness data, footwear electronic data, and second footwear electronic data, wherein the footwear electronic mileage data comprises the total distance traversed during the first fitness activity and the second fitness activity; and displaying the footwear electronic mileage data on the portable electronic device. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the fitness activity is running. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the footwear electronic mileage data relates to a single pair of shoes worn during the fitness activity and the second fitness activity. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the footwear electronic data includes identification information related to a pair of shoes. 5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the second footwear electronic data includes identification information related to the pair of shoes. 6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the footwear electronic mileage data includes a total distance traversed for the pair of shoes. 7. The method of claim 4 , wherein the second footwear electronic data includes identification information related to a second pair of shoes. 8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the footwear electronic mileage data includes a total distance traversed for the pair of shoes and a second total distance traversed for the second pair of shoes. 9. A portable health coaching system, comprising: a portable electronic device comprising: a satellite positioning system receiver, a wireless communication transceiver, a display, and a processor configured to: collect electronic position data during a fitness activity on the portable electronic device, the electronic position data including global positioning satellite waypoints from the satellite positioning system receiver; display footwear electronic mileage data based on footwear identification data, the electronic position data, and previous electronic position data collected from a prior fitness activity, wherein the footwear electronic mileage data includes a total distance traversed during the fitness activity and the prior fitness activity. 10. A method of providing shoe mileage information comprising: collecting electronic fitness data related to a fitness activity on a portable electronic device, the portable electronic device further including a microprocessor, a satellite positioning system receiver, a wireless communication transceiver, and a display, the electronic fitness data including global positioning satellite waypoints from the satellite positioning system receiver; receiving footwear electronic data that comprises identification information related to a pair of shoes worn during the fitness activity; generating footwear electronic mileage data based on the electronic fitness data and the footwear electronic data; and displaying the footwear electronic mileage data on the display. 11. The system of claim 9 , wherein the processor is configured to: collect second electronic position data during a second fitness activity on the portable electronic device, the second electronic position data including global positioning satellite waypoints from the satellite positioning system receiver; display second footwear electronic mileage data based on second footwear identification data and the second electronic position data. 12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the second footwear electronic mileage data includes a second total distance traversed during the second fitness activity. 13. The system of claim 9 , wherein the processor is configured to receive the footwear identification data. 14. The system of claim 9 , wherein the footwear identification data relates to shoes worn during the fitness activity and the previous fitness activity. 15. The method of claim 10 , further comprising: collecting second electronic fitness data related to a second fitness activity on the portable electronic device, the second electronic fitness data including global positioning satellite waypoints from the satellite positioning system receiver receiving second footwear electronic data related to shoes worn during the second fitness activity; generating second footwear electronic mileage data based on the second electronic fitness data and the second footwear electronic data; and displaying the second footwear electronic mileage data on the display. 16. The method of claim 10 , wherein the footwear electronic mileage data includes a total distance traversed during the fitness activity. 17. The method of claim 15 , wherein the footwear electronic data relates to a first pair of shoes and the second footwear electronic data relates to a second pair of shoes. 18. The method of claim 15 , wherein the second footwear electronic mileage data includes a total distance traversed during the second fitness activity. 19. The method of claim 15 , wherein the footwear electronic data and the second footwear electronic data relate to a single pair of shoes worn during the fitness activity and the second fitness activity.
