The invention claimed is: 1. An alternating current photovoltaic (ACPV) module comprising: a photovoltaic (PV) module, the PV module having a perimeter frame, the perimeter frame extending away from a back surface of the PV module, the PV module having a DC output connector, the DC output connector secured to the back surface of the PV module; and a microinverter positioned in a housing, the housing configured to electrically connect the DC output connector to a DC input connector electrically connected to the microinverter, the housing having a plurality of external tabs, the external tabs positioned to meet a corresponding aperture of a plurality of apertures positioned on the perimeter frame, wherein the corresponding external tabs and apertures of the plurality of apertures are each secured together with a fastener, and wherein a separate mounting bracket, to secure the microinverter to the perimeter frame, is not employed; and wherein a separate docking member to retain the housing is not employed. 2. The ACPV module of claim 1 wherein the perimeter frame is rectangular in shape, the housing has a side parallel to a side of the perimeter frame, and one or more of the plurality of external tabs serve to ground the microinverter to the perimeter frame. 3. The ACPV module of claim 1 wherein the DC output connector extends upwardly from the back surface of the PV module. 4. The ACPV module of claim 1 wherein the back surface of the PV module further comprises a junction box, the junction box having a portion connected to the DC output connector. 5. The ACPV module of claim 4 wherein the DC input connector of the housing is configured to overlap at least a portion of the junction box and at least a portion of the DC output connector when the housing is secured to the perimeter frame with the plurality of external tabs. 6. The ACPV module of claim 4 wherein the DC input connector of the housing is configured to overlap at least a portion of the DC output connector when the housing is secured to the perimeter frame with the plurality of external tabs. 7. The ACPV module of claim 1 wherein the DC input connector extends towards the back surface of the PV module when the housing is secured to the perimeter frame with the plurality of external tabs. 8. The ACPV module of claim 1 , wherein each of the external tabs includes an aperture sized to receive a corresponding fastener. 9. The ACPV module of claim 1 , wherein the housing is an elongated housing. 10. The ACPV module of claim 1 , wherein the connection between the DC ouput connector and the DC input connector is a vertical connection.
