A method for shaping keratin fibres comprising: providing a crosslinking composition, wherein the crosslinking composition comprises: an active agent, wherein the active agent comprises a functional group selected from the group consisting of: —C(═O)—, —C(═O)—H, and —C(═O)—O—; and wherein the active agent is not an acid; and wherein the active agent has a molecular weight of 500 g/mol or less; a photocatalyst; a cosmetically acceptable carrier; and applying the crosslinking composition to keratin fibres, mechanically shaping the keratin fibres with an appliance or implement, and exposing the composition to electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength of from about 300 nm to about 750 nm. Also a related composition, use, kit and process.

What is claimed is: 1. A method for straightening curly hair comprising: providing in a package a solid composition, wherein the solid composition comprises: a hydrophobically modified alkali soluble acrylic polymer emulsion; an active agent comprising a mixture of 3-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-oxazolidinone, hexane-2,5-dione, and 2-hydroxy-butanedial; a photocatalyst being a mixture of 8-hydroxy quinoline and 8-quinolinol-1-oxide; and then mixing the solid composition with a cosmetically acceptable carrier to form a crosslinking composition comprising from about 10% to about 97% by weight of water, about 5% by weight of active agent, 100 ppm 8-hydroxy quinoline and 100 ppm of 8-quinolinol-1-oxide photocatalysts; applying said composition to curly hair, mechanically straightening the hair with a hair straightening appliance, wherein the temperature of the appliance is 250° F. while exposing the composition to electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength of from about 360 nm to about 750 nm; wherein the crosslinking composition prepared by mixing the solid composition with the carrier has not been exposed to said radiation for a period of 10 minutes or more and where it is not a requirement that the solid composition has not been exposed to this radiation; and wherein about 0.25 g of said crosslinking composition per gram of hair is employed in the method. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the hair straightening appliance comprises light-emitting diodes. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition is substantially free of: formaldehyde, derivatives of formaldehyde, formalin, and any compound that produces formaldehyde upon heating. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the method does not comprise a rinsing step.
