A powered tool follower assembly can include a solenoid plunger that is movable longitudinally in a direction aligned with a drive axis in response to energization of the solenoid and a biasing mechanism with a spring axis extending transversely to the drive axis. A lever arm can extend between the plunger and the biasing member and couple the plunger to the biasing mechanism. A pinch roller can be disposed between the lever arm and the driver. Energization of the solenoid can move the plunger longitudinally, causing relative movement between the lever arm and the drive wheel that forces the pinch roller into engagement with the driver and transfers a biasing force from the compression spring through the lever arm and pinch roller to the driver to pinch the driver between the pinch roller and the flywheel and drive the driver along the driver axis.

What is claimed is: 1. A powered hand-held fastening tool for applying fasteners including a housing defining a handle, a backbone, a motor driven flywheel journaled to the backbone, an elongated driver disposed adjacent to the flywheel and movable along a drive axis to engage and drive a fastener into a workpiece, and a follower assembly coupled to the backbone for selectively coupling the driver to the flywheel, the follower assembly comprising: an actuator comprising a solenoid having a plunger that is movable longitudinally in a direction aligned with the drive axis in response to energization of the solenoid; a biasing mechanism positioned longitudinally from the actuator, the biasing mechanism having a compression spring oriented to compress along a spring axis extending transversely in a direction that is perpendicular to the drive axis; a lever arm extending longitudinally between the plunger and the biasing member and the lever arm coupling the plunger to the biasing mechanism; and a pinch roller disposed between the lever arm and the driver; wherein energization of the solenoid moves the plunger longitudinally, causing relative movement between the lever arm and the drive wheel that forces the pinch roller into engagement with the driver and transfers a biasing force from the compression spring through the lever arm and pinch roller to the driver to pinch the driver between the pinch roller and the flywheel. 2. The powered hand-held fastening tool of claim 1 , wherein the plunger is coupled to the lever arm, and wherein movement of the plunger longitudinally moves the lever arm. 3. The powered hand-held fastening tool of claim 2 , wherein the biasing mechanism is coupled to the lever arm, and wherein movement of the plunger and lever arm longitudinally moves the biasing mechanism. 4. The powered hand-held fastening tool of claim 1 , wherein the pinch roller is coupled to a carrier including an engagement portion, and wherein energization of the solenoid moves the plunger longitudinally, causing relative movement and engagement between the lever arm and the engagement portion that forces the pinch roller into engagement with the driver. 5. The powered hand-held fastening tool of claim 4 , wherein a lever arm engagement roller comprises the engagement portion. 6. The powered hand-held fastening tool of claim 5 , wherein the carrier is pivotable to move an axis of the engagement roller relative to an axis of the pinch roller between an over-center position in which the pinch roller is lockable into pinching engagement with the driver, and a reverse over-center position in which the pinch roller is disengageable from the driver. 7. The powered hand-held fastening tool of claim 1 , wherein the biasing mechanism is coupled to the backbone via a pair of longitudinally extending arms, the pair of arms having opposing longitudinally extending slots, and wherein biasing mechanism support protrusions extend into the longitudinally extending slots to couple the biasing mechanism to the pair of arms while allowing the biasing mechanism to move longitudinally. 8. The powered hand-held fastening tool of claim 7 , wherein trunnions comprise the biasing mechanism support protrusions. 9. The powered hand-held fastening tool of claim 1 , wherein the pinch roller is coupled to the backbone via a pair of longitudinally extending arms, the pair of arms having opposing transversely extending slots, and wherein pinch wheel support protrusions extend into the transversely extending slots to couple the pinch wheel to the pair of arms while allowing the pinch wheel to move transversely. 10. The powered hand-held fastening tool of claim 9 , wherein an axle comprises the pinch wheel support protrusions. 11. The powered hand-held fastening tool of claim 10 , wherein a lever arm engagement roller is mounted on the axle comprising the pinch wheel support protrusions. 12. The powered hand-held fastening tool of claim 1 , wherein the biasing mechanism further includes a cap member containing the compression spring. 13. The powered hand-held fastening tool of claim 12 , wherein the compression spring comprises a coil spring disposed between the cap and the lever arm. 14. A powered hand-held fastening tool for applying fasteners including a housing defining a handle, a backbone, a motor driven flywheel journaled to the backbone, an elongated driver disposed adjacent to the flywheel and movable along a drive axis to engage and drive a fastener into a workpiece, and a follower assembly coupled to the backbone for selectively coupling the driver to the flywheel, the follower assembly comprising: an actuator comprising a solenoid having a plunger that is movable longitudinally in a direction aligned with the drive axis in response to energization of the solenoid; a biasing mechanism positioned longitudinally from the actuator, the biasing mechanism having a compression spring oriented to compress along a spring axis extending transversely in a direction that is perpendicular to the drive axis; a lever arm extending longitudinally between the plunger and the biasing member and the lever arm coupling the plunger to the biasing mechanism; and a pinch roller disposed between the lever arm and the driver via a carrier that is pivotable between a locked orientation in which the pinch roller is lockable into pinching engagement with the driver, and unlocked orientation in which the pinch roller is disengageable from the driver; wherein energization of the solenoid moves the plunger, the lever arm, and the biasing mechanism longitudinally, causing relative movement between the lever arm and the carrier that moves the carrier transversely and forces the pinch roller into engagement with the driver and transfers a biasing force from the compression spring through the lever arm and pinch roller to the driver to pinch the driver between the pinch roller and the flywheel. 15. The powered hand-held fastening tool of claim 14 , wherein the carrier is pivotable about a first axis and the pinch roller is mounted to the carrier about a second axis, and in the locked orientation the first axis and the second axis being in an over-center position in which the pinch roller is lockable into pinching engagement with the driver, and in the unlocked orientation the first axis and the second axis being in a reverse over-center position in which the pinch roller is disengageable from the driver. 16. The powered hand-held fastening tool of claim 15 , wherein an engagement roller is mounted about the first axis, and wherein energization of the solenoid causes relative movement and engagement between the lever arm and the engagement roller that moves the carrier transversely and forces the pinch roller into engagement with the driver. 17. The powered hand-held fastening tool of claim 15 , wherein the carrier is coupled to the backbone via a pair of longitudinally extending arms, the pair of arms having opposing transversely extending slots, and wherein carrier support protrusions extend along the first axis into the transversely extending slots to pivotably couple the carrier to the pair of arms while allowing the carrier to move transversely. 18. The powered hand-held fastening tool of claim 17 , wherein the biasing mechanism is coupled to the backbone via the pair of longitudinally extending arms, the pair of arms having opposing longitudinally extending slots, and wherein biasing mechanism support protrusions extend into the longitudinally extending slots to couple the biasing mechanism to the pair of arms while allowin
