Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A water or other amusement attraction that includes an inflatable portion or material. A cavity of the attraction is located underneath an upper surface, the upper surface configured to support a flow of water and at least one rider thereon. A volume of water is configured to be disposed within the cavity, the upper surface floating upon the volume of water while connected to at least one side wall, floor, and/or nozzle structure. A pump and nozzle assembly, positioned outside of the cavity, communicates with the water within the cavity for flowing a portion of the water over the upper surface. A drainage portion, adjacent to the upper surface, drains the flowing water back into the cavity for recirculation. Support components, such as a plurality of beams or an inflatable grid structure help maintain stability for the attraction.

What is claimed is: 1. A surfing attraction comprising: an inflatable base; an inflatable riding surface separately inflatable from the inflatable base and extending over at least a portion of the inflatable base, the inflatable riding surface including a plurality of inflatable riding surface strips connected together, and a pocket within which a rigid element is disposed to maintain a shape of the inflatable riding surface; a support structure separate from the inflatable base and the inflatable riding surface and configured to support the inflatable base; a wall coupled to at least one of the inflatable base and the inflatable riding surface; and a platform, coupled to the wall, in which a portion of the platform is positioned under the wall. 2. The surfing attraction of claim 1 , wherein the inflatable base comprising a plurality of inflatable segments, wherein the plurality of inflatable segments are connected together. 3. The surfing attraction of claim 1 , wherein at least one bumper is positioned between the inflatable base and the support structure. 4. The surfing attraction of claim 3 , wherein the at least one bumper is connected to the inflatable base or the support structure. 5. The surfing attraction of claim 1 , wherein a rigidity of the inflatable riding surface is adjusted by changing an inflation level of the inflatable riding surface. 6. The surfing attraction of claim 1 , wherein the platform includes a first portion and a second portion and one or more attachment elements. 7. A surfing attraction comprising: an inflatable base; an inflatable riding surface separate from the inflatable base and extending over at least a portion of the inflatable base, the inflatable riding surface including a plurality of inflatable riding surface strips connected together, and a pocket within which a rigid element is disposed to maintain a shape of the inflatable riding surface; a protective sheet separate from the inflatable riding surface and configured to be positioned on the inflatable riding surface and extending over at least a portion of the inflatable riding surface; a vertical wall configured to be positioned on the inflatable base or the inflatable riding surface; and a platform including a first portion and a second portion and one ore more attachment elements, the platform located adjacent to the vertical wall with a portion of the platform attached underneath the vertical wall. 8. The surfing attraction of claim 7 , wherein a rigidity of the inflatable riding surface is adjusted by changing an inflation level of the inflatable riding surface. 9. A surfing attraction comprising: an inflatable base; an inflatable riding surface separate from the inflatable base and extending over at least a portion of the inflatable base, the inflatable riding surface including a plurality of inflatable riding surface strips connected together, and a pocket within which a rigid element is disposed to define and maintain a shape of the inflatable riding surface; a support structure separate from the inflatable base and the inflatable riding surface and configured to support the inflatable base; a protective sheet separate from the inflatable riding surface and configured to be positioned on the inflatable riding surface and extending over at least a portion of the inflatable riding surface; a vertical wall configured to be positioned on the inflatable base or the inflatable riding surface; and a platform located adjacent to the vertical wall, the platform having a first portion and a second portion and one or more attachment elements, wherein the second portion is configured to be positioned under the vertical wall, and the one or more attachment elements is/are configured to attach to the vertical wall. 10. The surfing attraction of claim 9 , wherein a rigidity of the inflatable riding surface is adjusted by changing an inflation level of the inflatable riding surface.
