Disclosed herein is a cooking system for cooking food, the cooking system being functional in a plurality of cooking modes. The cooking system includes a housing having a hollow chamber, and a cooking lid movable between an open position and a closed position relative to the housing. At least one heating element is associated with said lid. The cooking system is operable in a plurality of modes including a convective cooking mode and a pressure cooking mode. The cooking lid is configurable in the closed position when the cooking system is in both the convective cooking mode and the pressure cooking mode.

What is claimed is: 1. A cooking system for cooking food, the cooking system being functional in a plurality of cooking modes, the cooking system comprising: a housing having a hollow chamber; a convection lid movable between an open position and a closed position relative to said housing; and at least one heating element disposed in said convection lid; a pressure cooking lid separate from said convection lid; wherein the cooking system is operable in a plurality of modes including a convective cooking mode and a pressure cooking mode, wherein said convection lid is configurable in said closed position when the cooking system is in said convective cooking mode, wherein said convection lid and said pressure lid are both configurable in said closed position when the cooking system is in said pressure cooking mode, and wherein said pressure lid is positioned between said hollow chamber and said at least one heating element disposed in said convection lid. 2. The cooking system of claim 1 , wherein said convection lid is affixed to said housing in both said open position and said closed position. 3. The cooking system of claim 1 , wherein the cooking system further comprises a fan disposed with said at least one heating element at or above an opening at an upper extent of said housing. 4. The cooking system of claim 3 , wherein said fan is disposed within said convection lid. 5. The cooking system of claim 3 , wherein said fan is positioned and configured to draw air through said at least one heating element in said cooking mode. 6. The cooking system of claim 1 , wherein said pressure lid is movable relative to said housing to selectively seal said hollow chamber. 7. The cooking system of claim 1 , wherein said pressure lid seals a food container received in said hollow chamber during said pressure cooking mode. 8. The cooking system of claim 1 , wherein when the cooking system is in said pressure cooking mode, said pressure lid is nested within said convection lid.
