Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The present invention provides a digital broadcast receiver capable of executing functions having higher added values. The broadcast receiver receives a broadcast wave of a digital broadcast service, controls an operation including activation and end of an application that is in cooperation with a broadcast program based on application-related information, and selects control relating to reactivation of the application based on a user's operation. If activation of the application is requested after the end of the application, the broadcast receiver controls the reactivation or non-reactivation of the application in accordance with the selection of control by the user.

The invention claimed is: 1. A broadcast receiving apparatus comprising: a broadcast receiver configured to receive a broadcast wave of a digital broadcast service, the digital broadcast service being capable of executing an application in cooperation with a broadcast program; a display; and a processor configured to refer to application related information to control operations on a basis of the application related information, the application related information being information related to the application, the operations including an activation of the application in cooperation with the broadcast program, wherein the processor is configured to: refer to the application related information to cause the display to display a predetermined screen in a case where the activation of the application is defined or instructed in the application related information, the predetermined screen being used to confirm whether the activation is permitted or not, a user of the broadcast receiving apparatus being caused to select whether the activation of the application is permitted or not via the predetermined screen; execute processing for setting whether the activation of the application is permitted or not in accordance with the selection operation by the user via the predetermined screen; activate the application in a case where the activation of the application is set to permission in the processing; and not activate the application in a case where the activation of the application is set to non-permission in the processing. 2. The broadcast receiving apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising: a communication unit configured to communicate with a portable information terminal, wherein the communication unit is configured to receive a signal regarding a selection operation of whether the application is to be activated or not from a portable information terminal in cooperation with the broadcast receiving apparatus. 3. The broadcast receiving apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein in a state where no portable information terminal in cooperation with the broadcast receiving apparatus exists or a state where no signal is received from a portable information terminal in cooperation with the broadcast receiving apparatus, the processor is configured not to activate the application.
