Provided is a method for operating an electronic component mounting system including component storages including a keeping rack, a dry box and a dryer. The method includes, after a reel of a moisture sensitive device is dispatched from a component keeping area and setup to a tape feeder is performed in an external setup area, measuring a exposure time for which the moisture sensitive device is in an atmospheric exposure state is in a reel unit, and comparing the exposure time with an exposure limit time set for the moisture sensitive device and stored in a storage. The method includes stopping using the reel of the moisture sensitive device whose exposure time exceeds the exposure limit time.

The invention claimed is: 1. A method for operating an electronic component mounting system comprising component storages including a keeping rack for storing an electronic component, a dry box for preventing an electronic component from being exposed to moisture and a dryer for dehumidifying moisture from an electronic component, the method comprising: maintaining a material management table including a whereabouts information field for indicating which one of the keeping rack, the dry box, or the dryer an electronic component is stored in, and a target indicator field for indicating whether an electronic component is a moisture management target component, and an exposure time field for indicating an exposure time during the moisture management target component has been in an atmospheric exposure state; pausing counting the exposure time when the moisture management target component is stored in the dry box and decreasing the exposure time when the moisture management target component is stored in the dryer; identifying a moisture management target component of which the exposure time has met or exceeded an exposure limit time based on the whereabouts information table; and notifying the identified moisture management target component to an electronic component mounting apparatus. 2. The method of claim 1 , comparing the exposure time with the exposure limit time set for the moisture management target component; and placing a reel unit of the moisture management target component in one of the keeping rack, the dry box, or the dryer based on the comparison result. 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the reel unit of the moisture management target component is stored in one of: the keeping rack when the exposure limit time of the moisture management target component has a sufficient margin and atmospheric exposure is permitted until a time of actual use; the dry box when there is no margin in the exposure limit time of the moisture management target component and atmospheric exposure is restricted; or the dryer when the exposure time of the moisture management target component has already met or exceeded the exposure limit time. 4. The method of claim 3 , further comprising: notifying the electronic component mounting apparatus that the identified moisture management target component has met or exceeded the exposure limit time via the material management table. 5. The method of claim 4 , further comprising: predicting whether moisture management target components in a reel unit, which have not exceeded the exposure time limit will reach the exposure limit time before the moisture management target components in the reel unit are used up by comparing an accumulated exposure time with a predictive time presumed to be necessary to use up the moisture management target components in the reel unit; and providing a notification when it is predicted that the moisture management target components in the reel unit will reach the exposure limit time before the moisture management target components in the reel unit are used up in the electronic component mounting system. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein a reel unit containing electronic components includes a barcode label and each of the keeping rack, the dry box and the dryer includes a respective barcode label. 7. The method of claim 6 , the method further comprising: when the reel unit enters or exits each of the keeping rack, the dry box or the dryer, scanning the barcode label of the reel unit and the respective barcode label of each of the keeping rack, the dry box or the dryer, and transmitting the scanned barcode labels to a server via a wireless LAN.
