Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Disclosed herein are techniques to provide an indication of bandwidth to establish a TxOP using channel bonding. An information element may be generated to include an RTS frame or a CTS frame and an indication of bandwidth in a parity portion of the information element. The indication of bandwidth may be included by using 16 bits of the parity bits of parity bytes for a PHY header of the information element.

What is claimed is: 1. An apparatus comprising: memory; and circuitry coupled with the memory to: encode a first frame, the first frame to comprise a data portion and a control portion, the control portion to comprise an indication of a first bandwidth information, the first bandwidth information to comprise an indication of channels within a wireless spectrum, the control portion comprising a low-density parity-check (LDPC) codeword; and cause transmission of a second frame during a transmit opportunity (TxOP) established based on the first frame, the TxOP comprising channel bonding based on the first bandwidth information. 2. The apparatus of claim 1 , the channel bonding comprising at least two of the channels within the wireless spectrum. 3. The apparatus of claim 1 , the control portion comprising 21 parity octets. 4. The apparatus of claim 1 , the first bandwidth information comprising between 4 and 16 bits. 5. The apparatus of claim 1 , the first frame comprising a ready to send (RTS) frame. 6. The apparatus of claim 1 , the ciircuittry to receive, via a radio, the second frame to include a data portion and a control portion, the control portion of the second frame to include an indication of second bandwidth information based at least in part on the first bandwidth information, the second bandwidth information comprising an indication of channels within a wireless spectrum. 7. The apparatus of claim 6 , the second frame comprising a clear to send (CTS) frame. 8. The apparatus of claim 1 , the first frame comprising a header portion preceding the data portion. 9. The apparatus of claim 1 , comprising a radio coupled to the circuitry. 10. The apparatus of claim 9 , comprising at least one of an antenna or an antenna array, the antenna or antenna array coupled to the radio. 11. The apparatus of claim 1 , the circuitry to comprise an application processor or a baseband processor. 12. A method comprising: encoding a first frame, the first frame to include a data portion and a control portion, the control portion following the data portion, the control portion to include an indication of first bandwidth information, the first bandwidth information comprising an indication of channels within a wireless spectrum, the control portion comprising a low-density parity-check (LDPC) codeword; and causing transmission of a second frame, via a radio, during a transmit opportunity (TxOP) established based on the first frame, the TxOP comprising channel bonding based in part on the first bandwidth information. 13. The method of claim 12 , the channel bonding comprising at least two of the channels within the wireless spectrum. 14. The method of claim 12 , the first frame comprising a header portion preceding the data portion. 15. The method of claim 12 , the control portion comprising 21 parity octets. 16. The method of claim 12 , the first bandwidth information comprising between 4 and 16 bits. 17. The method of claim 12 , the first frame comprising a ready to send (RTS) frame. 18. The method of claim 12 , comprising receiving, via the radio, the second frame to include a data portion and a control portion, the control portion of the second frame to include an indication of second bandwidth information based at least in part on the first bandwidth information, the second bandwidth information comprising an indication of channels within a wireless spectrum. 19. The method of claim 18 , the second frame comprising a clear to send (CTS) frame. 20. At least one non-transitory machine readable medium comprising a plurality of instructions that in response to being executed by circuitry on a wireless device, cause the wireless device to: encode a first frame, the first frame to include a data portion and a control portion, the control portion following the data portion, the control portion to include an indication of first bandwidth information, the first bandwidth information comprising an indication of channels within a wireless spectrum, the control portion comprising a parity portion and a bandwidth indication portion, the control portion comprising a low-density parity-check (LDPC) codeword; and transmit a second frame, via a radio, during a transmit opportunity (TxOP) established based on the first frame, the TxOP comprising channel bonding based in part on the first bandwidth information. 21. The at least one non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 20 , the channel bonding comprising at least two of the channels within the wireless spectrum. 22. The at least one non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 20 , the first frame comprising a header portion preceding the data portion. 23. The at least one non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 20 , the control portion comprising 21 parity octets. 24. The at least one non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 20 , the first bandwidth information comprising between 4 and 16 bits. 25. The at least one non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 20 , the first frame comprising a ready to send (RTS) frame. 26. The at least one non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 20 , the plurality of instructions that in response to being executed by circuitry on the wireless device cause the wireless device to receive, via the radio, the second frame to include a data portion and a control portion, the control portion of the second frame to include an indication of second bandwidth information based at least in part on the first bandwidth information, the second bandwidth information comprising an indication of channels within a wireless spectrum. 27. The at least one non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 26 , the second frame comprising a clear to send (CTS) frame.
