A retaining device includes a base (51) extending in a longitudinal direction and presenting a top face (511) and a bottom face (512); and a plurality of retaining elements extending from the top face (511) of the base (51), each of the retaining elements being formed by a stem (52) surmounted by a head (53), the stem (52) having a bottom end (521) connected to the base (51), and a top end (522) opposite from the bottom end (521), the head (53) surmounting the top end (522) of the stem (52), and having a bottom face facing towards the base and a top face opposite from the bottom face.

The invention claimed is: 1. A retaining device comprising: a base extending in a longitudinal direction and presenting a top face and a bottom face; a plurality of retaining elements extending from the top face of the base, each of the retaining elements being formed by a stem surmounted by a head, the stem having a bottom end connected to the base, and a top end opposite from the bottom end, the head surmounting the top end of the stem, and having a bottom face facing towards the base and a top face opposite from the bottom face; the base presenting a thickness lying in the range 10 μm to 700 μm, where the thickness is the distance between the top face and the bottom face; and the top face of the head of each retaining element including a rib; the device being characterized in that the head of each retaining element includes at least one catch portion extending radially relative to the top end of the stem, said at least one catch portion including a rib which extends on the top end of the stem, over the at least one catch portion, wherein the at least one catch portion has a width and a length, and the rib has a width and a length, wherein the length of the rib is greater than the width of the rib, the respective widths of the at least one catch portion and the rib each being measured with respect to the longitudinal direction, the respective lengths of the at least one catch portion and the rib each being length being measured with respect to a transverse direction that is orthogonal to the longitudinal direction, the width of the at least one catch portion being greater than the width of the rib, and wherein the longitudinal direction and the transverse direction are orthogonal to a vertical direction extending from the bottom end of the stem toward the top end of the stem. 2. A retaining device according to claim 1 , wherein the head of each retaining element includes two catch portions extending radially relative to the top end of the stem, each of said catch portions including a rib, said catch portions extending on either side of the stem. 3. A retaining device according to claim 2 , wherein the head includes a rib extending continuously between the two catch portions. 4. A retaining device according to claim 1 , wherein the head further includes a transverse rib extending between two opposite ends on either side of an axis extending along the longitudinal direction, the transverse rib extending over the top end of the stem. 5. A retaining device according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one catch portion has a free end that slopes towards the base. 6. A retaining device according to claim 1 , wherein the top face of the head of each retaining element has two distinct ribs extending at least in part over the same catch portion. 7. A retaining device according to claim 6 , wherein for each retaining element, each of the ribs extends over a fraction only of the periphery of the head, in particular the combined length of the ribs of a retaining element under consideration lies in the range 5% to 95% of the length of the periphery of the head of the retaining element under consideration. 8. A retaining device according to claim 1 , wherein said base has two edges in the longitudinal direction, and wherein each of said edges presents highs and lows, the maximum offset between the highs and the lows along a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction being less than 1 mm over a length in the longitudinal direction that corresponds to three consecutive highs. 9. A retaining device according to claim 1 , wherein the width of the base lies in the range 1 mm to 500 mm. 10. A retaining device according to claim 1 , wherein the retaining elements have a height lying in the range 5 μm to 5000 μm, with height being measured in a direction perpendicular to the top face of the base. 11. A retaining device according to claim 1 , wherein the stem of each retaining element presents symmetry of rotation about an axis perpendicular to the top face of the base. 12. A retaining device according to claim 1 , wherein each rib of the head extends in a direction that is substantially transverse to said longitudinal direction of the base. 13. A retaining device according to claim 1 , wherein the retaining elements present a shape that is asymmetrical relative to a plane that is transverse to the longitudinal direction of the base. 14. A retaining device according to claim 1 , wherein each retaining element presents symmetry relative to a plane extending in a longitudinal direction of the base and containing the axis of the stem of the retaining element. 15. A retaining device according to claim 1 , wherein each catch portion extends in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the base. 16. A retaining device according to claim 1 , wherein each rib presents a V-shape in which the angle between the two branches of the V-shape lies in the range 90° to 180. 17. A retaining device according to claim 1 , wherein the length of at least one rib in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction of the base is greater than the diameter of the stem in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the base. 18. A retaining device according to claim 1 , wherein the rib is a first rib and the at least one catch portion includes a first catch portion and a second catch portion, the first rib extending over the first catch portion and the second catch portion, and wherein the retaining device further includes a second rib that extends over at least one of the first catch portion and the second catch portion. 19. A retaining device comprising: a base extending in a longitudinal direction and presenting a top face and a bottom face; a plurality of retaining elements extending from the top face of the base, each of the retaining elements being formed by a stem surmounted by a head, the stem having a bottom end connected to the base, and a top end opposite from the bottom end, the head surmounting the top end of the stem, and having a bottom face facing towards the base and a top face opposite from the bottom face; the base presenting a thickness lying in the range 10 μm to 700 μm, where the thickness is the distance between the top face and the bottom face; and the top face of the head of each retaining element including a rib; the device being characterized in that the head of each retaining element includes at least one catch portion extending radially relative to the top end of the stem, said at least one catch portion including a rib which extends on the top end of the stem, over the at least one catch portion, wherein the head further includes a transverse rib extending between two opposite ends on either side of an axis extending along the longitudinal direction, the transverse rib extending over the top end of the stem. 20. A retaining device comprising: a base extending in a longitudinal direction and presenting a top face and a bottom face; a plurality of retaining elements extending from the top face of the base, each of the retaining elements being formed by a stem surmounted by a head, the stem having a bottom end connected to the base, and a top end opposite from the bottom end, the head surmounting the top end of the stem, and having a bottom face facing towards the base and a top face opposite from the bottom face; the base presenting a thickness lying in the range 10 μm to 700 μm, where the thickness is the distance between the top face and the bottom face; and the top face
